Ha, got up to 80 here today, beautiful weather. Got an uncle up in Alaska like you though, can’t stand the hot weather. Unfortunately for him he’s been stuck in Yuma AZ for the past month or so.

And that’s one more reason I spend so little time on Facebook! I don’t know about Jay-Z coming out in support of marriage equality, celebrities who do this sort of thing just tend to annoy me though, with a few exceptions. If we find him down in the trenches, actually working towards achieving marriage equality, then it’ll mean something. It’s easy for celebrities to put out a press release, or make a little speech. It costs them nothing, and they get more media attention. Kind of like the celebrities who spent a couple of hours at OWS, and acted like they did something important.
Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and others remind me a lot of John Wayne during WW2. He didn’t serve, didn’t do anything to support the war effort, but he damn sure made a lot of money off of it.

Don’t they all? All that “Believe in God and go to heaven” shit just grates on me. Doesn’t help that my grandfather has pretty hardcore emphysema (On 4 liters of oxygen) and the deacon guy kept telling people to stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down. The old guy’s wobbly enough as it is, and at his wife of 61 years’ funeral, it wasn’t any better.

So am I. I didn’t scream at god, just had to bite my tongue a lot around the more devout Catholic relatives. And resist the urge to punch the deacon who gave the service (Grandma didn’t want a religious service, but the deacon was a compromise to appease her sisters). Guy sure was a preachy asshole.

Yeah, hard to watch her like that, in her last couple of days, she couldn’t do much more than lay there, gasping for air like a fish out of water. Yet all we can do is sit there and watch it happen. We treat our pets with more dignity than our elderly.

Thanks, but in the end, it was almost more of a relief. She’d been going downhill for a long time, suffering from a particularly bad form of OPMD. Couldn’t swallow, eyelids didn’t work, legs didn’t work. Was hard seeing her go, but I’m glad her suffering is over.

It makes the vehicle go faster when it’s backwards. It’s claimed to add 15% to the vehicle’s top speed. Works for people too, that’s why soldiers all have backwards flag patches on their arms.

The usual whine by right wingers. They want all the benefits of free speech, but none of the responsibilities. It’s just mean to hold them accountable for anything they do or say, because they’re God’s Chosen Job Creators. Just like with Limbaugh, freedom for them, but not for the rest of us.

The truly scary thing about that, is that few, if any, of those people have the proper training. Not just in handling a firearm, but in actually having to act in a violent situation. Just leads to more pointless death, as evidenced by the tragedy of Trayvon Martin.
