Last night at the Hutto Independent School Board (HISD) Meeting the Board unanimously passed a motion to increase Hutto’s effective school district tax rate by 7.9%, to $1.67 per $100 in property valuation. The Board voted tonight for the TRE and the expected increase was proposed. The election will be held on September 1st. Early voting opens August 15th. I’ll detail the meeting in a new diary in the morning.

In answer to your question Synoia – It may be legally possible for Hutto to pass a localized income tax. However this would put Hutto in an inferior position with the surrounding communities. Why move to a place with an income tax when you could live in the next city over and pay no income [...]
