Most “news” today is some form or other of gossip. This is just the televised version. And the proportions are just about right: probably 14% of the populace knows and understand what is going on, and the other 86% are telling lies, spreading disinformation, feeding the rumor mill and gossiping. And Krugman may not be perfect, but even if he is half-wrong, that makes him half right, which is a far better accuracy percentage than the 86%, who have it 100% wrong. I stopped watching these Sunday programs years ago. They serve only two purposes. One is to generate advertising revenue, and the second is to reinforce dangerous misconceptions. George is a celebrity broadcaster, and to continue this charade consistently, he has clearly sold off his personal integrity on the media auction block. This is a surprise?

We have far more important issues to deliberate and resolve than to allow people like Ryan to cloud the issues,distract us and waste valuable time. If you couple this act of folly with the information about Ryan’s new proposed budget, you have a strange combination of malevolent stupidity and absurdity. This is all ugly pretense.

Once you have cranked up the machinery of war, it is very hard to shut it back down. That requires courage, determination and some radically different thinking than that which promotes and propels the intertial forces of militarism. Among other actions required would be a complete departure from the status quo, and neither Obama nor the congress have the vision or the integrity to attempt such a sweeping course change. I think someone said, “Disgusted”? Yep. You betcha.

I think the word I want to use here is, “Amen”, but I hesitate to sound too much like Sanitarium.

But “Who cares?” sums up the entire, obscene predicament, nicely.

Democracy (people power) was originally conceived of give the populace the power to decide major issues concerning their welfare and governance. But we elected officials (whom we trusted) and they betrayed our trust and only modified the system to guarantee the own jobs and lucrative pay scales in perpetuity, no matter what “we the people” might have to say about it. “They” are untruthful, unreliable and unrelenting in their quest for job security. Shame on them for such despicable behavior and shame on us for continuing to let them get away with it.
