horus6 commented on the blog post Corporations Show Largest Profits in History Amidst Jobs Crisis
In the words of Sen Byron Dorgan, corporations have “taken our jobs and shipped them” offshore. We don’t need to create jobs, we need to bring them back. Close tax loopholes for companies that move their production to other countries and create incentives for them to return our jobs to the US.

Just as a footnote here. Let’s not overlook the fact that Michael Chertoff, head of Homeland Security, is a relic of the last administration. Pres.Obama has elected to retain him in his position, although i can’t see the logic in it.
Could it be Chertoff initiated this form of airport security in order to cause an uproar aimed at this administration?
While we’re being outraged that someone might be getting a peek at our naughty bits, what more serious issues are being overlooked? -

Can NBC do this legally? Can your employer tell you whether you can donate to a political campaign?

horus6 commented on the blog post Democrats Still Think They Lost the Midterms Because of Poor Messaging
I’d have to comment though, that anyone who thought they were making a valid statement by abstaining or voting Repub was doing him/her self a disservice. The Conservatives will frack things up with far better efficiency than the Dems ever could. Voting Repub is like inviting the wolf into the hen house.

I agree with Margaret. Repubs aren’t going to fix the budget, add jobs or curb spending. They’re just going to give us more Bush doctrine…in bigger doses. They won because of voter apathy and because they’re consumate liars.

No, i’m not advocating any particular method. What interests me is how people equate it to porn or some conspiracy to take away their rights.“Did you know that without this new scanner/grope regimen that your chances of dying in an airline related terrorist attack are virtually nil? You have have a much greater chance of being killed by lightning.”
An interesting statement. I’d like to know how the stats for that are acquired.@dakine01
“Humans trained to know what to look for and what questions to ask are far more effective than the machines and groping.” Do you have proof of this? How would you question the cargo? If i were to argue this method of scanning i would be more concerned with the health aspect of it. The whole porn/grope argument smacks of sensationalism and conspiracy theories.

“It would be far better to hire humans and train them to ask the appropriate questions.”
Other methods? Like asking questions?
‘Excuse me sir (or madam) but do you happen to have a bomb in your knickers?’
Yes, it would be good to have the baggage checked as well. But we’re not talking about baggage here.I find it interesting that some people equate this to porn. The purpose of the 2 things aren’t remotely the same. One is for sexual gratification. The other aims to find materials that may be used to bring down a jumbo jet. I suppose that if you consider any situation where a naked body is visible to be porn, then it’s a valid argument.

“You question Paul’s motives, but do you disagree with his message?”
No.
But if an airplane blows up, i’ll deny having had this conversation.
How about this? We have 2 airplanes. On one everyone is checked and scanned. On the other, no one is. We put up a big sign distinguishing which is which.
What one do you want to be on at 30,000 feet? -
horus6 commented on the blog post Ron Paul Introduces American Traveler Dignity Act, Encourages TSA Opt Out Day
My point (and conclusion) was that Ron Paul is most likely using this to gain political capitol. Were there to be an attack or another discovered attempt to circumvent airport security he would then criticize from that position.

I knew there were no WMD in 2002. Most people with half a brain realized that Saddam couldn’t prove a negative and that the war was inevitable. It was like watching a train wreck..you knew something bad was gonna happen, but you were powerless to stop it.
