ImprobableJoe commented on the diary post “It’s Magic”: Prestidigitation and other ways to Steal an Election by Greg Palast.
Those ballot-scanning machines? They had a half-dozen of them at the polling places where I voted in Florida, in majority-white neighborhoods where there was never more than a 10-minute wait to vote at any of the polling places I went to, and usually less than 5 minutes. Funny how there’s never lines where all the [...]

ImprobableJoe commented on the blog post Catholic bishop – Voting for the Democratic Party could endanger your eternal salvation
Time to embrace atheism, right?
After all, the Bible was written and edited by a bunch of people just like Thomas John Paprocki: power-hungry clowns who use the threat of a “god” that they created from nothing in order to make you give them everything. Stop pretending there’s some real truth behind religion: it is just people making up stories to control you, all the way down.

ImprobableJoe commented on the diary post Jury Says Samsung Ripped Off Apple’s iPhone Technology by Jane Hamsher.
Really? Icons and a taskbar? I totally see how that was invented for the iPhone specifically and had never existed anywhere before.
Jesus this is stupid.

ImprobableJoe commented on the diary post Slow Democracy by David Swanson.
What a complete and absolute surprise, a couple of upper class white people dismissing the civil rights movement, and the role of the federal government in making advances.

ImprobableJoe commented on the blog post I Was An Internet Badass
Hey! I’m one of those gun-toting badass guys with two-fisted tales of booze and babes and brawls and other things that start with the letter “b” and even I know that me and my handgun are no match for a guy with an assault rifle and body armor. Guns aren’t the problem, they just make the problem bigger and more deadly… so yeah, actually they are certainly a big chunk of the problem. I don’t think this guy could have stabbed 70 people or beaten 70 people with a baseball bat.

ImprobableJoe commented on the blog post FDL Movie Night: Showgirls 2: Penny’s From Heaven
Where am I supposed to see this? I’m sort of a supporter of the first movie (not really a fan, exactly), and everything I’ve read about this sequel is that it is a ridiculously low-budget piece of kind of silly genius. So where do I watch?

ImprobableJoe commented on the blog post Gun-toting weasel Ted Nugent: Obama, Dems are like a Coyote that needs to be shot
Nope, he’s exactly John Wayne: a pretend tough guy who dodged military service while spouting macho BS.

… except that racist police practices prevent many black people from being able to carry legally. And racist police profiling also scares off black people from carrying out of fear that they’ll be stopped and shot.

ImprobableJoe commented on the blog post I Love Lucifer
Well, there have always been people who believed in the Devil and Christians have always been the majority in America, so it isn’t like we’re THAT much dumber now. :)
Seriously, once you believe in the Devil you’re sort of “same street, different house” from the Republicans.

I wish it was the Zombie Apocalypse, because we would have an enemy that we could shoot, and count, and know that we had vanquished at the end of the war.
