indiepro commented on the blog post Poll Shocker: 44% of Democrats Don’t Think Economy Will Get Worse Under a Republican President
aren’t they about to pass some free trade deals today? One’s Obama submitted?
Why would I think Obama is going to help me, when Free Trade Deals will pass with democratic and gop support. Things are getting done in Washington, just for the richest and corporate!

indiepro commented on the blog post Japan: Tap Water Too Radioactive for Infants in Tokyo
I forgot this bit:
Governments have set up “permissible,” “allowable” and “legal” radiation exposure limits because reactors can’t operate without venting or dumping contaminated gases and liquids. Exposure to this radiation, during routine operations or from partial meltdowns — say in milk, tap water, or vegetables — is never safe. It is merely permitted under law.

Spewing from Meltdowns: Dangerous Plumes of Disinformation
by John LaForgeThe National Council on Radiation Protection says, “… every increment of radiation exposure produces an incremental increase in the risk of cancer.” The Environmental Protection Agency says, “… any exposure to radiation poses some risk, i.e. there is no level below which we can say an exposure poses no risk.” The Department of Energy says about “low levels of radiation” that “… the major effect is a very slight increase in cancer risk.” The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says, “any amount of radiation may pose some risk for causing cancer … any increase in dose, no matter how small, results in an incremental increase in risk.” The National Academy of Sciences, in its “Biological Effects of Ionizing Radiation VII,” says, “… it is unlikely that a threshold exists for the induction of cancers ….”

I think the ability to impose position limits is weak tea. What we needed was to re-regulate what was lost with the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, fully. It shold’ve been repealed. That bill is another shameful product of the Clinton era, like NAFTA and cutting welfare. That legislation opened the floodgates for disaster [...]

the TPM thing is months old, so no worries. Wendy and I use to talk over there. I agree with you about the subsidies used for ethanol, which is part of propping up corporate unsustainable farming. Such is also responsible for the dead zone in the Gulf. I’ll hold off on a Monsanto rant. But [...]

I am no longer able to post at Talking Points Memo. I was in contact with everyone over there, and I complained but they were unable to do anything about it. Some sort of software glitch it seems, or so they say. The long and the short of it is I am no longer able [...]

indiepro wrote a new diary post: Wall Street, Deregulation and the Price of Gas
Remember back in the 70′s when gas prices shot up due to speculation on Wall Street? Of course you don’t, that was a supply disruption. Your basic supply and demand action. Oil and Gas prices are regulated to keep speculation and the whims of Wall Street and the Rich Elite from screwing up the price on gas, and [...]

Worst Party and President for these times!
They pass this, “More expensive than the stimulus” crap, and not to far off, they’ll start talkig about the need for shared sacrifice and cutting services like Social Security and Medicare, as they gut more of the environment and hand more over to the plutocracy, and then, two years from now when the gains from this crap leave us with employment at 8% or so, they’ll capitulate again and extend this bullshit!
PS: Anyone else blocked from commenting at TPM for no apparent reason? I was. For more than a week now, and Josh just keeps telling me it should be fixed.
