“BEHIND ENEMY LINES” are the words printed below that image I posted. I see targets on both the map produced by the D’s in 2004; and the map produced by the R’s in 2009. (I imagine more such maps were produced in between.) I am not drawing a moral equivalence among all of the target maps drawn; rather, I am saying, given all of these images, I am unable to isolate only those variables that can accurately be said to contribute to an ‘atmosphere,’ whether of violence or, for that matter, intolerance.
