Don’t have the number at our finger tips but the turnout for an off-year election was unprecedented.

There was a big sigh of releif after the election was over.
How it is working itself out now – I’m not sure.

Yes – I think this is the first time this has ever been done on this issue. One really sees a campaign up front and personal. The decisions. Strategies. Emotions. etc

We were never approached by any time – by any side to edit any of other comments. The access to both sides were unprecented – and every now and then we were asked to leave. But for the most part – we were the proverbial Fly On The Wall

It’s also very satisfying to hear you say that we gave a good picture of both sides – that’s what we very much strived to do!!!!

There are five major characters that we follow in hte film – all connected to the campaign in some way.

On the No side – we followed a Lesbian couple/volunteer wiht a small child
Darlene Huntress: The Head of Field Operations for No On One

The Yes side: We followed both head of Yes On One – Pastor Bob Emmerich and Marc Mutty

And a member of Bob’s Church – Lnda.

I suppose you could describe Linda as being very christian in her outlook.

Very real. Very honest. With very strong opinions.

All characters from both side were immensely gracious in allowing us to be apart of their journeys.

As in California – the tone did get more heated as the campaign went on.

The ad campaign that played out in Maine was a carbon copy of what played out in California – no big suprises because it was headed up by California based Pr firm – Schubert/Flint who ran the Prop 8 campaign. They hit on education in California (scary ads: gay marriage being taught in schools) and they did the same thing in Maine.

Well…we want to get it out to the world.
So we are in the process of securing theatrical distribution as well as securing a national broadcast airing.

There was a lot of disapointment that Mormon support did not come through in Maine. In fact, $$$ wise they were completely off their targets.

Marc Mutty the campaign manager was a very complicated individual -while he might have believed in “one man – one woman” he had very serious issues with the tactics and messaging.

We shot over 200 hours of footage over a three and a half month period. We started filming in July as the Yes side collected all the necessary petititions to force a half to the law going into effect all the way thru the days that followed the election.

    Hi there
We approached both sides at the same time and simply asked.
We were given access immediately from the Yes on one side
No on one side took a little persuading
