Naked Man was the only person that seemed to irritate Leonard, who was one of the friendliest people out there. Have to disagree about the people out there now; a lot of folks at Slab City made me nervous, and the ones I met at Salvation Mtn. were much more interested in my religion than Leonard…who always said “my mountain speaks for me”.

Did you have the opportunity to meet Leonard Knight (the fellow that painted Salvation Mountain by Slab City/Niland)? Sad to say he is now in a home…and a group of Christian hippies have basically taken over what used to a be a fairly benign place (look up Salvation Mountain on Facebook)
