Rats, try faxing, maybe we should get the media alerted? The more cameras, the less likely the police will get harsh? Also, please spread the word to all and sundry, the more eyes on the livestream the better. BTW, gale-force winds right now :-(

juliawilliams commented on the diary post The Death of Keynesian Economics and the Resurrection of Supply Side Idiocracy by masaccio.
FDR saved capitalism for his class…faced with Socialist, syndicalist, and anarchists strikes and revolts across the country, he saw the coming of a new type of economy and gave the peasants just enough to keep them penned.

“Beyond allowing City Bank to merge with Travelers”..now THAT’s an interesting way to describe the repeal of the Glass-Steagall act..sheesh! Clinton was a triangulating, Corporate Dem of the first water, and “Clinton Hate” has nothing to do with an accurate description of his policies and politics.

“Clinton rejected….pushing to cut Social Security”?? He wanted to start PRIVATIZING it, as a good l’il DLC, third-way banker shill should..the only thing that stopped him and his pal Erskine Bowles from beginning the gutting was a small problem with a person named Monica…see here:

juliawilliams commented on the diary post Progressives and the Green Party by cassiodorus.
I researched an “independent” run here in MI, and the incredible constraints and restraints my state has devised against an “I” run were overwhelming, so good luck with an Indy run here. OTOH, the Green Platform conformed with all of my political philosophy, was very left, and they HAVE ballot access, and a good support [...]

juliawilliams commented on the diary post Warren Mosler: MMT to President Obama and Members of Congress by selise.
Thanks for this post, Selise, we need to keep hammering the truth home! It will take years and many many public postings, LTE’s, questions to our reps, and discussions with our neighbors and fellow activists, but we CAN change the way we run our economy.

I’m planning on running for Congress again, as a Green, against whatever candidate happens to end up in my new, R-gerry-mandered district.

juliawilliams commented on the diary post NN11 Young Voter Turnout Session – How Do You Convince Someone They’re Better Off Despite Their Lying Eyes? by one_outer.
So “just vote” is your message? Lame response, and an obvious feint. You have yet to respond to the substance of one_outer’s questions and comments. “Best of luck with that”? dismissive and supercilious, but just the perfect example of the attitude the Democratic Party has towards what used to be its platform, and its base. juliawilliams commented on the diary post Buy American Jobs by Leo W. Gerard.
“Buying American” and buying “Koch” are antithetical, so the list above could use a good pruning..:
http://www.alternet.org/teaparty/150078/how_you_can_boycott_the_kochs/
and thus, makes me wonder where the point of this article lies. Is it to support “American-made” products at the cost of supporting efforts that undermine the left, and support efforts to destroy unions? -

juliawilliams commented on the blog post Late, Late Night FDL: Somebody To Love/White Rabbit
My sincere condolences on your loss. Having been “orphaned” at a relatively young age, I can share some of your pain. As for the behavior/actions of relatives after a death, I can only say that I’ve seen the best and the worst of human urges, and sadly, most of them have tended to the worst. I don’t know why, maybe it’s the fear of death, or denial, or something else, but a loss in the family can bring out the greed, jealousy, petty disagreements and rivalries like nothing else can. What got me through that was the firm belief that it was all about their problems, therefore the best path for me was to deal with what I had to, and marginalize, or totally ignore, their issues. All the best to you, and I hope that your path can be eased by those who are closest to you.
