Thank you, Rep. Cohen, for speaking so eloquently for the vast majority of Americans. Shame on these people!!

justbetty commented on the blog post The Roundup for April 11, 2013
Hello, Fatster, and thank you for these great daily round-ups. Good work. I am sorry I didn’t keep the link, but I hope you see the Alternet article about the judge in Pennsylvania who declared corporations are not “persons.” Yay- hope this is the beginning of a new era.

justbetty commented on the diary post Obama’s Right-Hand-Man Offers Social Insurance Program Cuts, Again. by TomThumb.
This must be stopped. Can’t the members of Congress see this is suicidal? A plan is needed now.

Key quote from Schieffer – “about to make news.” That’s all.

Agreed, masaccio. If these leaders want to claim Lincoln as a guide, they better start reading.

justbetty commented on the blog post Pelosi Says Chained CPI Would Strengthen Social Security
Let me add my sorrow at hearing that David is leaving the blogging world. He has been a blessing in keeping us informed about what the politicians and other bigwigs are up to. Good luck, David as you move on.

justbetty commented on the blog post Senate Republicans Nickel and Diming Sandy Relief
It’s mind boggling to contemplate what the President means when he says “on behalf of the greater good.” That’s just nuts in light of the proposals coming form him and endorsed by Pelosi. UGH!

justbetty commented on the blog post The Case for Adequacy and Economic Growth Rather than Deficit Reduction and “Smart Cuts”
I guess Mr. Aaron is one of those smart, savvy guys and not one of us dumb, old bleeding heart liberals who actually care about real people and even know some real people affected by these programs.

Truly sad when even little Caribbean countries with scarce resources can get this right and the mighty US cannot.

justbetty commented on the blog post Poll: Should Susan Rice’s TransCanada Investment Disqualify Her from Secretary of State Job?
I think procedures could address the pipeline conflict problem. My bigger concern is her apparent belligerent attitude which does not seem to me to be the right leadership for State- maybe Defense?

justbetty commented on the blog post IMF: Principal Reductions Now!
Has the IMF been taken over by a a bunch of DFHs?
So good to know that now that someone “respectable” is providing the advice you’ve been giving for years, there is a chance this administration might listen. Too bad about all those already destroyed by the Admin’s refusal to listen to reason.

According to Scalia, that would be broccoli. But then mayor Bloomberg will forbid you to buy a super-sized Coke. What a great country.

justbetty commented on the blog post The Continued Collapse of Democratic Populism
Perhaps things have to get worse before they can get better. I may be wrong, but it seems that this excessive money going into elections with non-stop TV ads is starting to turn people off and may backfire against the biggest “offenders.”. If people start looking for alternative sources of reliable information about candidates, maybe there is hope that true progressives/populists will have chance to regain some power in the Democratic Party. media has a big role to play, of course. In 2008, we really had no progressive choice because the media fixated on the woman and the black man contest and that was that.

Good job, David, in getting these gentlemen to comment. It is hard, though, to be optimistic that any of their best case scenarios will come to fruition.

justbetty commented on the blog post Secrecy Games by Prosecution & Government Postpone Bradley Manning’s Trial
Thanks, Kevin, for all your dedication to this important case. Let’s hope the government continues to be so obnoxious that the judge sees the unfairness of the entire matter and rules accordingly. The delay may also be good in case Mr. “I’m afraid to do anything that somebody I think is important may criticize” wins re-election and decides he can do the right thing since there is no longer an election in sight.
