justmusing commented on the diary post Veteran Shakes Up War Debate on CNN by David Swanson.
Excellent Post, David. As a Vietnam vet of the same time period, I simply apply the sniff test. Iraq and Afghanistan reek. The official rhetoric out of DC is the same old crap I heard back when….. Scott is asking the right questions and has got the context dead on. I mean that in the [...]

“you interface with them at McDonalds or the Jiffy Lube.”
My Jiffy Lube is right next door to McDonalds, so I can grab a burger while getting an oil change. So convenient to rubbing elbows every 3 months or so when I come down off the hill and mix with the masses. That is, if I’m actually in the mood to drive the car myself and can break away from the Harvard crowd in for the weekend. So many tough choices. Well, gotta get the mail and see if my dividend checks arrived. TTFN.

Everything you need to know about Ron Paul is in the name he chose for his, now Senator, son.

justmusing commented on the blog post Ryan-Wyden Getting No Love on Democratic Side
He’s my Senator and there was no love in the e-mail sent to him this morning nor in the phone call to his DC staff. Hands Off Medicare! This one Oregon voter who will disown him in heartbeat if he keeps this crap up. Probably will anyway.
Enough is Enough.
Occupy Wyden!!!!!

Easy for them to remember. Anything over one syllable disqualifies them as a candidate. A polysyllabic candidate? To be feared!!! Might be a closet liberal.

“Finding the occasional straw of truth awash in a great ocean of confusion and bamboozle requires intelligence, vigilance, dedication and courage. But if we don’t practice these tough habits of thought, we cannot hope to solve the truly serious problems that face us — and we risk becoming a nation of suckers, up for grabs [...]

Alaska’s State Motto: (From netstate.com) “North to the Future” “The motto represents a forward-looking optimism, a state of promise. Richard Peter (winner of the motto contest) is quoted that the motto “…is a reminder that beyond the horizon of urban clutter there is a Great Land beneath our flag that can provide a new tomorrow [...]

justmusing commented on the diary post FDL Book Salon Preview: The Rogue – By Joe McGinniss (The Hate Continues) by EdwardTeller.
Palin’s acolytes are blogging: (I’m summarizing here) “use of fake interviews, misleading headlines, pseudo-science, and lies from so-called experts” to attack the apostate McGinniss and defend their ringleader. The MSM has joined their tabloid brethren by giving face time to the Palin circus thus establishing a veneer of legitimacy and credence to her moose bleats. [...]

John Eastman is no better:
Maggie Gallagher’s POV was rejected in NY. And her hate will continue to be rejected in other states and courts of review.
Eastman wears his hate on his sleeve for all to see.

Perhaps Paul wishes for a return to the age of “Paternalism” and the “Beneficent” company, mill, coal mining towns of the 19th and early 20th century. Let corporations take on the needed social engineering (which is just a euphemism for controlling workers).
The “managers” called themselves “capitalists with a conscience”.
What a bunch of oxy-moronic crap.

But “Greed is Good”! The mantra:
http://www.americanrhetoric.com/MovieSpeeches/moviespeechwallstreet.html
I’m feeling my own barbarian start to rise to the top and I never want to go there. Meanwhile, the game is rigged. The “house” has their thumb on the wheel and it seems like no matter what position you bet on, it never wins. My own congresspeople are trying damn hard to pull the thumb off, but their voices are drowned out and their proposed legislation dies in committee or it is so perverted with toxic amendments that the author must vote against or retract their bill.
How do you unstack the deck?

Let’s not forget a shining example of conservative hypocrisy: Andy Harris.

This has been going on a long, long time and the Tea Party thinks they are about to grab the brass ring. I agree with RevBev that the barbarians are at the gates.

“…can’t wait to take coins from the pockets of the dead.”
After the vultures have emptied out their pockets, they’ll strip the coins from their eyes. Then they’ll come for the coins in our pockets.
Unfortunately, when I pulled my pockets inside out this morning, there were no coins to be found, because I had used them all to help pay for the funerals and the wakes of the uninsured, the under insured, and those with jobs that had no one insured.
Now, I can no longer provide coins for my own dead as my charity has runneth out. Burying them in my backyard seems the only option left. But that was due to my bad planning, right?
Who will the Tea Partiers blame, hate, come for next?
“This is the kind of madness that ‘precedes’ the ‘next’ Civil War”.
‘Inserts’ are mine.
