katiejacob commented on the blog post FDL Movie Night: We Are Legion: The Story of the Hacktivists
One of my happiest moments in recent years was when Anonymous issued their warning to Karl Rove before the election in November. Then on election night watching Rove melt down on Fox news when Ohio went to Obama. Anonymous has claimed they blocked Rove’s plan to flip the vote to Romney. (There is a lot of evidence they were successful in ’04,flipping the vote from Kerry to Bush.) Couldn’t Anonymous release evidence that would indict Rove? Why not?

I forgot to add, and a hand recount (aka audit) would expose the fraudulent machine count.

If candidates understand this is possible and if information like this is diseminated through the media before the election so they won’t simply look like “sore losers” on election night, then they can demand hand recounts if the results seem off, at least in states that have some kind if paper record of the vote.

At a Michigan campaign event yesterday Valerie Jarett said Holder told her they couldn’t prosecute Wall Street because no laws were actually broken. “And I trust him,” she added usefully.

Bradblog explains that in Wisconsin they use mostly paper ballots that are counted optical scanners, which have been proven to be hackable. But there is a paper trail, they just don’t use it. There would have to be a recount request and an order from a judge to get them to.

OT but, speaking of Illinois, Raw Story is reporting that Patrick Fitzgerald is stepping down from his position as U.S. attorney after more than 10 years, giving no reason for his departure.http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/05/23/untouchable-u-s-prosecutor-patrick-fitzgerald-steps-down/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheRawStory+%28The+Raw+Story%29

katiejacob commented on the blog post Come Saturday Morning: Hoyer Finally Admits the Obvious: Health Care Bill Killed the Dems in 2010
One thing that hasn’t been factored in in the discussion of the Nov. election is the effect the OWS movement, which hopefully reemerges in the Spring, has on Obama and what he has to do to win the election.. If they stir up enough anger and awareness in the general populace, Obama may be forced to the left, to adopt the populist stance of the movement. Remember how effective they were in changing the discussion from debt reduction to jobs and the 99 percent.

Nice letter. I find those e-mails so annoying. Could they think of anything cheesier than asking supporters to pay to compete for a chance to have dinner with Barack? They must be having a hard time coming up with a real reason for people to support him.

katiejacob wrote a new diary post: Crowd at U of M wasn’t pleased with Cantor’s Right Wing talking points
Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor spoke last Monday at the University of Michigan at an event sponsored by the Gerald Ford School of Public Policy. You would think that if you knew you were speaking in front of people who studied public policy for a living you would at least pretend take the subject [...]

Eric Cantor will speak at an event that will be open to the public at the University of Michigan Monday, in spite of having canceled a speech last week at University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business after finding out that it would be open to the public. Apparently Cantor got cold feet last week [...]

No offense taken. I appreciate your thoughtful comments. I agree with you that the system is rigged. There is plenty of documentation to prove that this is true. I was supposed to be writing a news story, reporting what happened at the protest. I thought I went out on a limb as far as I [...]

katiejacob wrote a new diary post: Friday’s Occupy Detroit’s protest at BOA
Occupy Detroit protested ongoing foreclosures at the BOA branch on the corner of Griswold and Congress in downtown Detroit last Friday. I reported on the event for a local newspaper and I thought I might also post it here. It may be a little unsophisticated for people here who are already well informed about the movement, [...] -
