How can HP possibly survive Meg Whitman after Carly Fiorina? I wouldn’t bet on their chances.

Not only has it N-E-V-E-R had any surplus, the $1 TRILLION/year expended on OFFENSIVE weapons has been and continues to be 100% BORROWED from mostly foreign sources (China, ME oil producing countries), mortgaging future generations with unpayable sovereign debt.

Obama is starting his ‘toss supporters under the bus’ routine. Latest WH insider report has uber-warmonger Susan “War on Iran NOW” Rice being named next Secretary of State designate. John Kerry being shunted into Secretary of Defense slot. If Kerry has any character, he will tell Obama: Not just NO but Hell No!

Then, Obama will start his caving dance routine, capitulating to House Rebaggers on Medicaid, Medicare, SS, Food Stamps, etc.
So more “liberals” have been elected to the Senate? Existing ones melted at the first signs of pressure from WH in the last few years. Remember the publicly signed pledges by 63 Dems in the House Progressive Caucus to vote against any Health Care Reform bill that DID NOT contain a Public Option? I do. What happened? They folded faster than a cheap suit and melted away into the background. Right Rep. Grijalva?

kipchuk commented on the blog post After Tragedy, Bloomberg Rips Presidential Candidates for Not Talking About Gun Laws

    2012-07-20 13:54:27View | Delete

Thanks for “telling it like it is” (RIP Howard Cosell). This SCOTUS clarified the absolutely simple meaning of the Second Amendment. My take: in the times the Constitution was passed, binding the States to a new form of union, the country faced 4 more or less serious military threats. The most serious was the British Empire to the North wanting to reverse the humiliation they had just suffered, next the French Empire to the West, the Spanish Empire to the South, and the constant guerrilla-style warfare all around and in between from Native Americans. Who would NOT have firearms in that environment? Plus the Jefferson wing wanted to make as certain as possible that the newly created, and untested, Federal Government would not overly encroach on States’ rights, in opposition to Hamilton-led Federalists; ergo, the Bill of Rights.

The last 220 years has seen nothing but Federal Government encroachment on States’ rights and the Bill of Rights itself, mostly thru the ‘magic’ of the Interstate Commerce clause . So the only way to get “gun control,” within the present definition of “Union,” is to amend the Second Amendment with a new Amendment, as has been done a number of times in our history.

Have you ever been in bars/BarBQue joints in deep red States where they have wooden plaques on the wall for Ditto-Heads to bang there forehead in fealty to Saint Rush? I have, many times. It’s an “experience” watching the line form with the putative Ditto Heads taking turns banging out MEGA DITTOS.

Another car going, in ultra slow motion, off the Eurozone financial tracks. Soon to be followed by Italy with a lot more money at stake. The PIIGS will drag the healthy EZ economies down into the same deep canyon of the dead economies. Heir of the Great Depression. How we’ll buy basics nobody knows. The way ahead is fogged in.

Russia & China haven’t been factored into this equation, at least not in the Western punditocracy/expertocracy. When even the “Good Cop”, Medvedev, as opposed to the “Bad Cop” Putin, cautions about the game going nuclear, there is a huge problem. With the Pentagon overflowing with hubris/triumphalism in building a noose around Russia and China via the now global Anti-Missile Shield, they are blinded to the severe danger. An attack on Iran from whatever quarter, directly or thru a third party like NATO “humanitarian bombing” and invasion, via “NATO rebels”, of Syria would be just the fuse to set off a catastrophic spiral.

There is not a snowball’s chance that Congress will enact legislation to stop this travesty, pre-2012 election. As cited, the Ryan budget would pile on to the burden on middle class and poorer students and their families.

It’s just consummately deceitful Obama preparing to throw some of his supporters under the bus once again for the umpteenth time, in this case environmentalists. Sadly most of them will just rationalize and vote for him anyway. I surely won’t. Just tag me a “dissident” or “refusenik”

Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) is a “Democrat?” Must be some type of Blue-Dog “Democrat.” They sure turn out some strange “Democrats” in Oregon. Paul-Wyden is an attempt to deconstruct the final pillar of the New Deal social reform programs.
