KLGG commented on the blog post Obama Punts Keystone Pipeline Decision Until After 2012 Election
The technical term in these parts for someone with these characteristics is “sorry sack of sh*t.” I voted for him, too. Enthusiastically. Never again though.

Late to the party, but if unemployment continues its trend since October 2009, it will be at 4%, which is full-employment unemployment in October 2020. Give or take a few months.

KLGG commented on the blog post Federal Reserve Revised Growth Estimates Show High Unemployment as Far as the Eye Can See
WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one
international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the
losses in lives.A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of
the people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit
of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge
fortunes.From War is a Racket, 1935.

KLGG commented on the blog post The Referendum That Could Indirectly Bring Down Obama
Not that big a stretch. And it couldn’t happen to a more deserving politician, who is obsessed with looking forward. So, onward. Win the future! Your past has been dismal.

KLGG commented on the blog post FDL Movie Night: “The Man Nobody Knew”
That is true. And all was forgotten so that the Germans could serve as a bulwark against the Soviets. It was wrong, but Truman was in a bad spot and there was, at that time, a real existential threat on the Eastern Front, to the extent that it could be gauged. Werner von Braun used slaves at Peenemunde and then lived out a nice, active retirement designing rockets while hidden away in Huntsville, Alabama. I learned that in school, btw. And this has little to do, really, with the subject of this discussion.

You know much more than I, but I might leave Scowcroft off that list. The others are puddknockers from the get go.

William Colby’s successor was indeed a card-carrying member of the MIC, with a pedigree to prove it. Colby and the others, not so much. It certainly wasn’t their default position, if I remember my post-WWII history correctly. William Colby would have known of and approved of much of what Smedley Butler said after he left the Marine Corps. Poppy Bush may not have even heard of Smedley Butler. Poppy’s dad, of Brown Brothers Harriman, would have though.

Looks like I’ll have to wait for the DVD release. But that’s OK. It’ll fit well on the shelf with recent works such as “What’s the Matter With Kansas.”

KLGG commented on the blog post FDL Movie Night: “The Man Nobody Knew”
It has always been my contention that as the older veterans of WWII left the scene we went farther and farther down a cul de sac of fear and sickness. I don’t know if we can turn around. The men (and women) of your father’s generation understood the good in the world while remaining cognizant of the bad. Their successors, not so much…America Firsters of the worst sort. I keep hoping my country will act like the United States of America. Alas.

William Colby to Poppy Bush: From the sublime to the ridiculous.
Looking forward to the movie. Thank you!

Actually that was Werner Sombart. But a great point it was. Emphasis on the “was.” Soon enough, roast beef will be an unusual menu item in many 53% kitchens.
Outstanding report, Teddy! Thank you.

Just wait until it does kick in, if that ever happens, and people are forced to buy such a sh*tty product from the likes of Humana and United Health Care.

KLGG commented on the blog post White House to Announce Fannie/Freddie Refi Plan
Way too little, way too late.
Barack Obama is one with George McClellan during the Peninsula Campaign that could have effectively ended the Civil War in July 1862. Basically he is an ineffectual coward.
