I’ll ignore the ridiculous “wanking” comment but I’ll address McCartney’s “amazing” post-Beatles output: Paul’s first two solo albums were pretty good, although you could make the case that the first album was basically Paul’s demos for Beatles songs that never got made; Ram had a few good songs, namely “Too Many People”, “Dear Boy”, and “Heart of the Country”, but it also included the execrable “Smile Away”, “Monkberry Moon Delight”, and “The Back Seat of My Car”. Best not to mention the first two Wings albums. Band on the Run is really the only Wings album that holds up (and maybe two or three songs off of Venus & Mars). So what have we left of an “amazing” output? The Costello collaborations on Flower in the Dirt, his covers album Run Devil Run and, what, Flaming Pie?!?! Don’t forget Sir Paul’s “amazing” singles, “Hi, Hi, Hi”, “Silly Love Songs”, “Mull of Kintyre”(!), “With a Little Luck”, “Coming Up”, “Ebony and Ivory”, “Say Say Say”, “Put it There”?!?! (the list of mediocrity, unfortunately, goes on and on).

I’ll take “I’m on Fire” over “My Love” any day…

Springsteen is not “flag waving” – he’s pointing out the hypocrisy of those who wave the flag but ignore the downtrodden in America. It’s called irony.

Really? The new Springsteen song is “Freedom awful”??? Did you give it more than one spin? Did you even listen to the whole thing or did you give it the same attention you gave the CPAC “rap” video? “We Take Care of Our Own” is not Bruce’s finest moment (by a long shot) but it is not awful in any sense of the word (and it definitely is not in the same category as Post-Beatles McCartney Hack Work). Plus, how many superstars are out there making political statements (besides Miley Cyrus)?
