leftover commented on the blog post The Roundup for February 4, 2011
I’ve been searching for some sort of response from Progressive groups to the videos on the internet of folk at the Common Cause rally calling for the lynching of Clarence Thomas.
Some sort of defense, explanation, apology…anything better or at least as lame as the poorly scripted explanation offered by Common Cause…especially from folks who attended. If I’m missing something, drop in a link, please?
Because if Progressive groups demand right wing activists purge racist elements from their supporters, should not Progressive groups be expected to do the same. A lame apology and turning the collective back on the issue is right out of the Lee Atwater/Karl Rove playbook. Not responding is a slap in the face to supporters, especially among independent supporters, looking for something a little more substantive than unprincipled opportunism.

Thanks for the link to The Arabist in yesterday’s Roundup. It provided a link to veteran mideast journalist Jonathan Wright’s blog.
I am unable this morning to connect to The Arabist. My computer keeps telling me, (about 2 hours now), the server drops the connection try again later. I can access Sultan Al Qassemi’s feed and Wight’s blog.
Can you access The Arabist? -

TATP can be worked up by anybody with a recipe and access to raw materials…which are a lot easier to get than a Glock 19.

Not really. He’s confined to a wheelchair. He apparently made an initial appearance in court, but after that he doesn’t come up on any of my searches of local media. He’s made some statements talking about how he got screwed in a divorce. A good excuse to work up some TATP…not that surprising if you’ve [...]

On Jan 5 a police robot removed a half pound of TATP, or Triacetone Triperoxide, which is extremely sensitive to impact, temperature change and friction, from an apartment in Spokane. John D. Raymond, allegedly upset over his divorce, had a half pound of the stuff. The Joint Terrorism Task Force was in on that investigation [...]
