• ThumbnailWe at SimplyInfo.org have  reported extensively on the highly radioactive “black stuff”  being found around eastern Japan, as far away as Tokyo. Citizens initially found the substance, usually concentrated in gutters and low spots. Some superficial analysis had been done on the substance, again by citizens. The government has refused to acknowledge the issue or  publicly acknowledge testing [...]

Unit 1, the fuel is not located. At least some of it may be in the torus room or in the torus. There is some analysis that thinks it may have flowed across the containment floor. The torus room of unit 1 is a mess and has very high radiation levels the lower you go [...]

Firehoses were hooked to exterior building fire lines or used to spray water from a distance into the fuel pools. The attempts to spray water into the pools using watering booms could potentially cause some sort of movement or mechanical wear if the water velocity was hard enough and the hose was close enough to [...]

The US nuclear industry wants this to be forgotten about. I routinely catch them lying about well documented incidents and risk factors or missing obvious technical aspects because they really do not pay attention to what is going on at Daiichi, For them it is a PR game and someone else’s problem. We looked at [...]

The spent fuel pools are concrete with a stainless steel liner, they are not painted. Normally proper water chemistry keeps them from corroding and there is a check system in place to try to catch the early signs of a leaking pool liner.

TEPCO made very few pre-accident records public. Those that were, were mostly as punishment by NISA when TEPCO was caught faking safety testing. We we do know is many pre-accident photos showed considerable rusting of metal surfaces both inside the reactor systems and inside the buildings in general. At US reactors of similar age and [...]

  • Thumbnail New research shows that corrosion of reactor pipes currently being used to pump water into the reactors in an attempt to cool the melted fuel may compromise those pipes long before TEPCO plans to stop injecting water. This same corrosion may be doing considerable damage to metal parts in the spent fuel pools. TEPCO injected [...]

LOL doremus35, there are days the nonsense out of the nuke industry sounds exactly like that. I remember one nuclear shill proclaiming fukushima reactors could never melt down they were “too safe” in a live chat on Reuters as we were all watching the first reactor explode.

ThumbnailChildren in Fukushima and other parts of Japan are being denied access to doctors and needed tests. Why? To keep up the myth that radiation exposure doesn’t cause health damage. The Health Survey head has managed to get most doctors in Japan to comply with his demand that doctors stop seeing children for possible radiation related [...]
