Since Republican motivations are all about money, something that doesn’t produce a profit cannot be good. So you get the stupid “Government should be run like a business” argument.

This despite the fact that if it was profitable, there would already be a business doing whatever that something is. Government is about covering those non-profitable aspects most folks refer to as ‘civilization’ (Republicans are Objectively against it). Hell if making money was all there was to it then arachno-syndicalism or such like would work. The problem with that, and with Marxism, and with capitalism is that human nature doesn’t work that way. There has to be an mechanism to insure some social safety for the less-fortunate and for the folks to whom dog-eat-dog Randianism is not the be-all and end-all.

These morons don’t realize that if the government went away, their wallets would be filled with high-quality scrap paper. Government provides the context that business can occur in – otherwise what good is a contract?

Of course these are the folks yelling “get your government hands off my Medicare”.
