All I can say is thanks for ‘getting it’ and getting it right. Too many people are only being informed by the MSM and don’t have a clue, which is dangerous. OCCUPY EVERYWHERE.

My only question to you is this: In the time it took to write 2 extremely long and similar posts, don’t you think you could have been on your way to a local Occupy site where you cold have presented this agenda of yours to a General Assembly? I think that posting this long list [...]

Great piece, David, beautifully put. Facebooked and Tweeted it. Keep on marching brother, we’re all in this together. Occupy Everywhere.

I think this is one of the great songs ever written and have always thought it should be our National Anthem, we finally may have a movement to apply it to. Your definition of capitalism is only valid if applied to capitlism in its current corrupted form. The fact is that the majority of Americans have been asleep or distracted for so long that we’ve allowed the partnership between the public and private sectors to completely distort and rig the system to benefit only a tiny [...]

please see the link to the ‘list of grievances’ below. It’s formal title is The Declaration of The Occupation of NYC and was adopted by the NY General Assembly on 9/29.

“We are only seeking to benefit from our labors and protect our rights to liberty, health, education, and the pursuit of shared prosperity.” Is there some part of that statement that you don’t understand? Would you rather that the right wing attempt to marginalize the movement as anti-capitalist? Of course this entire issue is up [...]

you might want to actually talk to some people at OWS and get their opinion of Obama before making a declarative statement that this is just an adjunct to his administration.

Ok, so the reason I wrote that “this is not an anti-capitalist campaign, nor do we want to destroy capitalist institutions” was not to spark a debate over the merits of capitalism or any alternative. I was merely trying to dispel the anti-capitalist label that’s being broadcast by a very dysfunctional media. In my statement [...]

I agree, although I read a piece somewhere today that went back to the labor protests of the 1930′s and of course the anti-war stuff in the ’60′s, and sort of made a slight comparison. But I also believe this something brand new. And the cool part is that it’s working. And growing.

Thumbnail Occupy Wall Street is about revolution, not reforms . The movement is about creating a democracy based on mutual respect, compassion, and looking out for each other’s best interests. It is all-inclusive to people of any political party and all voices are welcome to the debate as to how to replace the existing corporate/government co-dependency [...]

The Media Meme That Is As Divisive As It Is Just Plain Wrong Just a short note on Day 19 of Occupy Wall Street. As the movement expands nationally today, and with the much anticipated labor union support, it’s important to recognize the role the media is playing. Although some outlets like The Nation, Firedoglake, and [...]

Well thanks to all for your eloquent and constructive comments. I have been vastly inspired by this movement. During the Bush years I kept asking “Where’s the outrage”, and I think we’ve finally begun to see it. As of today I’m beginning to find humor in some of the media’s attempts to explain or rationalize [...]

OWS is organically enigmatic, mostly because it’s nothing but a conversation we’re all now willing to have, and with so many voices in the mix it will be difficult to pigeonhole it into a convenient political niche. Ground Zero used to be my neighborhood, I can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent in Zuccotti [...]

The bulk of America has grown so fat and lazy over the past few decades that they’ve grown accustomed to being trampled by a system that no longer has their best interests at heart. So yes, some people are so used to being passive that maybe by seeing such a demographic cross section of Americans [...]

In case you haven’t noticed, the productive remainder of the country has had its jobs shipped overseas by corporations sitting on trillions of dollars. 25 million unemployed, 30% of mortgages underwater, all a result of the endless pursuit of profits by entities dedicated to putting money in the pockets of politicians who only perpetuate the [...]
