TBogg, thanks for the great reminder of how the CO Republican party stepped in it by nominating Dan Maes for governor. He was such an awful candidate that the Republican Party came in 3rd behind the American Constitution Party (Tom Tancredo, nominee) with 11.1% of the vote leaving them just shy of attaining minority party status for next 4 years.

Another Ft. Collins Aggie, er, Ram, here! I’m earlier than you guys – back when the Stones played at Moby Gym and the war protesting hippies burned down Old Main!

Hard to believe the 2016 Repub presidential candidates could be even more clownish and moronic than the class of 2012 but it’s starting to look like it! The addition of Ventura is something of a delightful surprise but Trump’s probably just saying stuff for the publicity again.

Do we have to say “hoose” and “oot” and “eh?”? Oh well, I guess I’m down with that if the socialmalist health care does get thrown in.

Also, too, I don’t know why they keep trying to make us believe Obummer is so aloof and arrogant. He actually comes off as likeable and engaging. Say what you want about his policies, leadership, &c, when people are interacting with him they all have big smiles on their faces and give every evidence of enjoying themselves.

Everyone is always advised to really check any charity to determine where and how the donations are used. Sad to say, a lot of “nice” sounding charities end up donating very little – sometimes nothing – to whatever the charity is alleged to be “for.”

So true. And it is actually pretty easy to do so. All 501(c)(3) organizations have to file a form 990 with the IRS every year and they are public documents available online. On about page 7 or 8 there is a schedule of all their expenses which classifies them as either “program”, “administrative” or “fund raising”. Legitimate charities have 80% or more of their revenues going to program (i.e. actually doing something charitable) expenses. If the numbers are much less than that beware.

The forms also list the salaries that the officers and directors are being paid – another piece of interesting information.

Komen came on as such a huggy, feel-good organization that a lot of people didn’t bother to see what they were really spending the money that they raised on. The fact that Brinker is still sucking up as much cash as she can is pretty shameful.

If the next Republican candidate can address their concerns effectively, he will win.

That is hilarious. The prevailing belief among Republicans is that Romney wasn’t conservative enough! The idea that the next Rethug nominee is going to address meaningful progressive tax reform, support increases in minimum wage and work to protect social security, Medicare and Medicaid is, I have to say it again, hilarious. Statistically speaking he’s right – there is no way they could get the level of Hispanic support that they would need to win the next election. But the idea that they would change their messaging enough to win over sufficient lower and middle income voters of all stripes between now and 2016 is equally preposterous.

Completely agree. My kids are in this generation and they are all working long hours for shit pay even though they have degrees and specialized training. I know everyone’s got to pay their dues but the job prospects for kids their age just do not seem like what they were for my generation. The thing is they’re happy to be having jobs they love, even if the pay is crap, and not feeling “entitled” to a damn thing. This “lady” is a total moron but of course she’s writing for Big Breitfarts so there’s that.

I’ve been making myself helpful and keeping her comfortable and agreeably woozy and and peeling grapes for her because I am one nuture-ninja motherfucker, if I do say so myself.

Because no one else would, probably.

Also, I’ve been wearing a slutty nurse costume for her amusement and because it makes me feel pretty.

You’re a good hubbie TBogg. Just like my late husband was when I broke (or “shredded” as my ortho surgeon said) my ankle a couple of years ago. Being there for each other is the best.

Ha ha, a spy would have a pretty boring time with me as a slave. If I’m not working on a spreadsheet or tax software I’m reading blogs. Or not even in the same room. I do like what one person did which was to put a piece of tape over the webcam. I’m going to suggest to my daughters that they do just that!

It’s pretty amazing that, in these days when being a Playboy centerfold model* is good for the resume, he really thought the threat of exposing nude photos of them would actually stop the young women from reporting this dickhead to the cops.

Also kind of a relief to know that he really is as creepy as he looks. I’d hate to make false assumptions of creepiness on someone who was actually a perfectly nice guy.

*Assuming there still is such a thing. Yeah, I know. I’m old and no longer informed about such doings.

Unless you count the “thought” that some (or a lot) of the building materials for the Rec Center *somehow* ended up in Palin’s house which she *just happened* to be building at the same time. Irresponsible to speculate? Or not to?

This thought has been mentioned before.

  • You’re right. What would a blah guy know about being expected to be submissive and subservient? Obama has probably the best record of any president on women’s issues. You’re just trying to squeeze way too much blood out of this turnip.

  • I blame Michelle. ;-)

  • You do realize that song is satire, right? Also, too, I think Kamala Harris is pretty damn secure about who she is and I don’t think an off-hand compliment in a social setting is going to phase her much. I also don’t think Obama’s comment came even close to the threshold of creating a hostile environment (which inappropriate compliments in, say, a work setting can do) so I guess that’s why I just don’t see why this has risen to the level of a Huge. Big. Deal. YMMV Or actually apparently it does.

Considering that the average DA in the USofA is a middle aged balding guy he’s probably totally correct that she’s the best looking DA in the country. The ensuing freak-out in the TwitterVerse was quite a spectacle. And many “serious things” were written about this by serious feminists. But since our country/economy/DOD etc. have absolutely nothing else to worry about right now, why not?

    What?

Yeah, she actually dressed pretty nicely during the campaign but now that she’s making her own choices – hooo baby. I actually got out of the boat and watched her whole speech. Couldn’t decide whether she was drunk, stoned or both. And when she turned to walk off stage her anorexic thin body with that huge hair gave me shivers. Thank the lordy I am trying to just age gracefully. ;-)

Ooohhh my. Seriously I never was crazy about Laura but I never disliked her either. But after hearing her say that the Rethugs’ Big Tent has room for legitimate rape crazies because they’re so very, very heartfelt I’m feeling dislike begin to well up a bit. Maybe a lot. I think she might want to cut back on the botox a bit too – saying that stuff with a zombie botox face really doesn’t carry the warmth she maybe thought she was projecting.
