MaryCh commented on the blog post The Industry Divide in the Election
The pro-Romney result for manufacturing workers and transportation workers is a little surprising, given that whole “GM is alive, and bin Laden is dead” business.

Well, it does show you’ve got the right kind of gut reactions, maybe like rising up when a haircut just ain’t right.

MaryCh commented on the blog post Kenyan Socialist Barack Obama Is Now A Late 19th Century German Marxist
Whoa – this post gave me a 60s flashback:
The peace sign is an upside-down broken crucifix, and hippies (the ‘df’ was understood but not said in those gentler times) were a threat to Christianity!

MaryCh commented on the blog post New York Times Columnists Support the Nuns, Tell Bishops to Back Off
It’s from the Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 7 verse 5:
You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brother’s eye.
{I’m a lapsed Methodist – haven’t ever heard quoted by any Evangelical politicians or Catholics.}

He said no, it’s getting late, but it’s not too late. And with that I said, that’s all I need to know … if you can fix it, you must do this.”
Just like The Simpsons Movie, in fabulous 2-D.

MaryCh commented on the blog post McConnell Defies House GOP, Votes for Discretionary Spending at Previous Target
Sad to say, it doesn’t seem “strangely enough” – McConnell has accumulated as much power as the Senate Republicans will allow and, with his filibuster athwarting ability, is as close as he’s ever going to get to being President.
If other Republicans haven’t done this in the past, maybe they respected the traditions of the Senate too much, or didn’t have the peculiar gene sequence that Mitch seems to share with Dick Cheney.

MaryCh commented on the blog post Appeals Court Judges Think All Economic Regulation Should Be Unconstitutional
Wingnut Radio tells me that it’s not judicial activism if the laws are unconstitutional. In that case, it’s damn near duty!
Also, the constitution mentions ‘economic liberty’ in the sentence establishing corporate personhood.
{Sorry, my bad. My word search got as far as c-o-r-p and the only result left was habeas corpus.}
