Perfect. The machines will do the rest. Mission accomplished.

And Midnight the cat would say, “Niiiice”.

I heard a commentator this morning theorizing that Mitt’s accountants are busy preparing amended returns to clean them up. Interesting possibility.

Yes, Hayes was excellent as usual.
And now I’m going to take a retroactive nap.

You got that right. Alexis was great, too. She just demolished the Bain guy’s “it’s all good” generalizations with specifics.

Right, this is enabling a different type of “consumption”. No pun intended, I assume.

Interesting. I suspect you’re right, since insurers won’t really have captives.
The IRS can’t throw you in jail, because the health reform law explicitly states (on Page 336): “In the case of any failure by a taxpayer to timely pay any penalty imposed by this section, such taxpayer shall not be subject to any criminal prosecution or penalty with respect to such failure.”

“I firmly believe that this was all arranged behind closed doors such that Roberts would take the hit to deliver the outcome the corporate oligarchy wanted.”
Exactly. He voted in support of his constituents: big pharma, insurance, and healthcare corporations. Done deal.

Mr. Einstein once said something to the effect that the universe is not only stranger than we think, it’s stranger than we are ableto think.

Right. A literary example. I once read a post-apocalypse-type novel in which the inhabitants of a country called Inland (ruled by the Pry Mincer and the Wes Mincer) were aware that at one time there were “boats in the air and pictures on the wind” but no one remembered how these things were accomplished. They [...]

An ex-GF in the 70′s was into something called Astral Projection. It seemed to be a “discipline” wherein one developed the ability to walk the fine line between dream and consciousness, to literally control one’s dreams. I suspect most of us have experienced an awareness during dreams that we are indeed dreaming, and momentarily have [...]

I had those dreams around that age, too. It was quite exhilarating, having just enough conscious awareness that I was dreaming but not waking up. Thinking, “oh boy, I get to fly again.” I am sadly earthbound in current dreams. Maybe it had something to do with the mixed blessing of pooberty.

Aping and defending the actions of the corrupt assholes that run this country seems to me to be an odd position to take, mr. bogg.
The empire is circling the drain just a little faster.

Thanks. It is frustrating to feel like I have the words, but not the “voice”. After reading something like Russell Hoban’s “Riddley Walker” I just throw up my hands (not an easy trick) and surrender to a life of appreciation rather than creation.
And thanks to Ruth, too. Just stardust, then gone.

English major at UW, and I did try to write a short story about it, but was never satisfied with it. All I lacked was discipline and talent. When I try writing, I feel like it sounds lame and amateurish.

Summer of ’73, just out of college, spent the entire summer on the Quinault reservation on the Washington coast. Miles of unspoiled coastline. Incredibly beautiful. An old friend had befriended the tribal sheriff and I helped him build a cabin. Best beachcombing ever, between Whale creek and the Raft river. Found a whale vertebra on [...]
