merkwurdiglieber commented on the blog post Wall Street’s Enforcers: Standard and Poor’s Imposes Shock Doctrine 2.0
Just glad to see that some have read and can apply the pattern Naomi Klein lays out to our politics. The Condor has come home to roost. The
outlook is grim, the banksters have worked for decades to get us in this position, a manufactured disaster with a ready solution cooked up by the
“Chicago Boys”, pun at least implicit. -

There is no other reason for the hack or the hire. That is the tradecraft of Murdoch and his politics here as well.

merkwurdiglieber commented on the blog post Sunday Talking Heads: July 10, 2011
The wall street/military/media complex is the latest iteration of neoliberal political economy and the total propaganda flood people must
decode every day just to keep up, much less do something about it. The destruction of the Murdoch empire would be a good start, but can you imagine the dirt that old bastard has on the political class here. He runs the plantation that used to be the United States Of America. Obama is a product of that system and believes in the neoliberal Washington Consensus that Naomi Klein traces in her masterpiece The Shock Doctrine. The Condor has come home to roost, welcome to Chile companeros! -

Reading the Shock Doctrine will only deepen the perception of how long, deeply and permanently we are screwed, reenforced by the media consolidation that in spite of all the toobz activity determines the storyline for the majority of people. The Powell Memo and the Ailes Files have taken the neoliberals to total global dominance, and now the condor has come home to roost. Welcome to Chile.

merkwurdiglieber commented on the blog post Looks like Rick Perry is Running for President
It is just that the politics are so volatile, and Perry so connected to
Rove and tons of cash that are cause for caution. Hopefully the Ryan plan
and the real damage to come from Perry’s budget in Texas will educate a
new cohort of voters that got it wrong last fall. The are getting it in the
Midwest from Scott Walker and it is coming here in Texas… but Diebold and
the new voter suppression measures can come into play. Remember that fire
that burned all the voting machines in Harris County last summer? -
merkwurdiglieber commented on the blog post Looks like Rick Perry is Running for President
Be cautious pups, he has never lost an election. By the fall of 2012 the
unemployment rate may be out the roof and the voters could make a mistake
for either Perry or Jeb. Don’t wish for it, it might happen. -

I read items at New Deal 2.0 everyday and have found it a reliable source for real liberal critique. This campus project and the adoption of any relationship with Peterson came as a complete surprise and I still cannot find any justification for it. The line that you do this to get a seat at [...]

merkwurdiglieber commented on the blog post How’s that Plan Going, Mr. President?
This is the product of his neoliberal education. He really believes the
Amity Shlaes line about the New Deal… complete revisionist Hoover Institute crap. He believes his pals Summers and Geithner like LBJ believed
” Westy wouldn’t lie to me “. Unemployment will continue to rise, helped by
his being wrongfooted at the beginning and the Republicans sinking the
country to beat him. That renewal of the Bush tax cuts sunk created the debt trap. The beltway kool kidz say the Republicans painted themselves into a corner, which is true, but the President is in there with them. -

They control his medications, so he will surely conform. He should
be easy to impeach, he does not convince as a witness, way too shaky. He actually said it, “play out my role”, stunning. -

One of those demurrals was by a DLC consultant, the usual chatshow

ambitious yuppie on the make/take. -
merkwurdiglieber commented on the diary post Review: PBS FRONTLINE’s ‘WikiSecrets’ Wants to Be Objective and Fair and That’s Why It’s Weak by Kevin Gosztola.
It was a hitpiece. The Frontline brand has been trashed by this attempt to retain funding, or conform to the post 9/11 mindset of beltway publishing. There was no backstory presented on Wired personnel or the creep of the decade Lamo. Those are presented as stable, solid, reliable sources. Add the serial murderer Negroponte into [...]
