I cannot believe that we are fighting these old battles again.
Abortion, birth control, unions busting, the republicans are despicable and I cannot not understand how any sane person could stay with the republican party. -
mgardener commented on the blog post Preserve Marriage Washington Was Created by NOM, Say Washington’s Catholic Bishops
I am a former catholic.
It has been a a year since I decided to leave. I have to laugh now, because every time I read an article about anything the Catholic church/bishops says, I am always on the opposite side. It is great to be free and to be able to think for myself.

The children, no they do not care about the children.
It is rich that the Catholic church cares about the children now. Where were they when the rape of boys was happening? -

The night he was born everybody was out partying and nobody knew he was here till the next day. -

No, sir, I am sorry to tell you.
Asking the potential leader of the free world what newspapers she reads is not a gotcha question of quietly nasty person.
Inquiring minds wanted to know what pailn read that would allow a 40 + year old women to remain so blindingly stupid.
That she watches Fox News was a given….. -
mgardener commented on the blog post Kansas, Rick Santorum, and Purity Catholics
rick santorum is not a purity catholic, he is a zealot. He should be running for pope, not POTUS.
Folks from Kansas should ask themselves if they want a POTUS who obviously listens to the church first and the Constitution second.
lets review some other things that the santorums have done that they want to deny the same rights to others.
KAren santorum lived for almost 10 years with an abortion MD. No children, so you have to assume they used birth control.
Rick santorum advocate a cap on lawsuits. Of course it was OK for his wife to sue her former chiropractor for a large sum of money.
And lets talk about abortion and prenatal testing.First, rick santorum says no abortion for any reason. No rape, no saving the life of his mother. Yet, when his wife was deathly ill during the pregnancy he allowed her to have antibiotics knowing it may cause the babies premature delivery and death.
They also decided on having intrauterine surgery for the above pregnancy.
And now he has said that there should be no prenatal testing, even though, he and his wife he had to have testing of some sort to know that their son had medical problems.I am sick of the sanctimonious attitude of santorum. It seems that rick santorum loves to tell us how to act and live but he can do what he wants.

Zealots are rarely sane. -

He was given enough of the spotlight for his true arrogance and obnoxiousness to shine through.
Didn’t even have to bring up his affairs, his ethics lapse or his divorceS.
He done did it to himself!!!!I want to know, if republicans think POTUS Obama is soooo bad, why is the republican field a farce? Are there no sane republicans left?

What is even worse then these people’s response that somebody should die if they do not have insurance is the fact that not one of the republicans on that stage said anything. NOTHING was said by these people who want to be POTUS about letting someone die. these are the same people that wanted terri [...]

“Challenges include a high rate of uninsured population at 25.6 percent, limited access to early prenatal care with 59.7 percent of pregnant women receiving prenatal care during the first trimester, a high percentage of children in poverty at 25.6 percent of persons under age 18, a high incidence of infectious disease at 20.4 cases per 100,000 population and limited availability of primary care physicians with 95.4 primary care physicians per 100,000 population. Texas ranks lower for determinants than for outcomes, indicating that overall healthiness may decline over time.”

I, too, have gained lots of weight. I am taking different meds for pain and all of them, side effects weight gain!
I am trying hard to lose weight but back pain prevents me from using the elliptical.
I have been eating breakfast, lots of water and walking. I also garden which I love but have to do slowly.
I’m at home and the temptation for food is never ending.
One thing I have found is yogurt, granola and craisins. Satisfies the sweet tooth and tastes good too!
And lots of salads. My lettuce is ready, it tastes great and I planted 35 tomato plants! -

6 more inches of snow yesterday and 10 degrees. It is pretty though, quiet and clean. My husband and I went for a walk in the snow to pick up the NT Times, spend the day reading and drinking tea till after dinner and then the work began!
May I ask you to pray or send good thoughts for my cat Max on Monday?
They think he has liver cancer(contained) and we are going for the surgery to try and give him and us some more good years. If not they will close him up and put him down.
He is my husband’s cat. He acts more like his dog, coming when called and sleeping on him every chance he gets.
We will be devastated if the news is not good, but do not want him to suffer.
Thanks you so much.

Just had some minor surgery on Wed with general anesthesia. The anesthesia after effects were worse then the surgery, have been groggy and it tastes like I chewed on a tire for an hour.
My darling husband made me lots of cream of wheat, with milk, butter, honey and cinnamon.
That with a cuppa made my day.
We used to make this or our kids while they were growing up on cold weekends.
Joe makes great eggs and his home fries could be eaten as dinner, lots of cheese and onions and bacon.I love him and his cooking!

Joe and I are going to be alone for the first time in 32 years!
We have nothing special planned and I hope that my children have a much love and joy in their life as Joe and I have had all these years.I have been noticing something disturbing since last year. Listen to all the big republican blowhards. Really listen to what they are saying.
They are driving a wedge between the have and the ‘have nots’ in this country, I haven’t heard this kind of talk since the late 60′s/early 70′s.
Except for the brief ‘Welfare Queens’ Regan talked about. The republicans are not only trying to save their precious money, they are actively seeking the destruction of the middle, lower middle class.
And those, who have lost jobs due to the economy.
You would think anybody who is unemployed today is lazing around, eating chocolates and sleeping late , while the republicans are supporting the rest of us.
They are going after seniors, minorities and democrats, the bleeding heart liberals. The people who follow them do not even realize that they are going after them. The religious don’t realize that only the evangelical born again Christians are the true faith, and any other religion, whether they be Methodist, Catholic, Episcopalian are not true ‘christians’.
Why can’t we all live together peacefully?
The republicans will not rest until they control everything. And we know what happens when republicans get power. They don’t use power for the common good, they use it to enrich each other and themselves. -

We used to have a dog when my sister and I were teenagers and dating.
Nope, wouldn’t bring down our slippers from upstairs, just under wear.
He would get them out of opened dresser drawers or the hamper. It was so embarrassing especially on a first date.I miss him. But not the embarrassment that went with date night!
