Democrat or Republican? Hmm. Neolib or Neocon? One will cut you off at the knee. The other will cut you off at the knees.

It was a banker’s stimulus, not a people’s stimulus. I have not yet forgotten the names of President Obama’s financial advisers and where they came from.

MichaelHarold commented on the blog post It is Very Difficult to Believe Obama on the Debt Ceiling

    2013-01-15 10:54:52View | Delete

I see a method to his madness. He is determined to break the back of the social safety net and to open the door to privatization of SocSec and Medicare. This may be his last chance and he’s going for it, even if it brings down the global economy and wreaks havoc within U.S society.

MichaelHarold commented on the blog post Obama Really Wants to Play Debt Ceiling Chicken

If Obama has left the 14th amendment and/or the platinum coin on the table prior to negotiations, the House would have less recourse in their negotiations. That’s not what Obama wants. He wants to negotiate for cuts to entitlement programs. He wants to offer entitlement cuts as a compromise position. That way, he gets to fight the good fight and still get what he’s wanted from the beginning – entitlement cuts.

MichaelHarold commented on the blog post Mitch McConnell Lays Down His Marker on the Debt Ceiling Negotiation

    2013-01-03 12:03:13View | Delete

I would prefer Mitch McConnell negotiate with Harry Reid. Harry is much less a neolib than is the POTUS. I’m afraid that President Obama would like nothing better than to change SocSec, Medicare and Medicaid is such a way that they can be privatized over time. I’m sure he and McConnell would be BFFs if such a deal were offered.

MichaelHarold commented on the blog post What the “Fiscal Cliff” Deal Portends for the Upcoming Debt Ceiling Fight

    2013-01-01 09:22:35View | Delete

Obama is a neolib. He’s in the pocket of the bankers. Was that ever at question? He has presided over as large a transfer of wealth from the working class to the wealthy as has occurred in nearly a century. We have to go back to the nineteenth century to see anything on as grand (bargain) a scale as this. The “fiscal cliff” is a hoax. The debt ceiling is a con. The simple fact is, we are a sovereign nation. We have no debt ceiling.

Now I understand. That’s why Obama kept talking about looking forward and not backward when it came to holding individuals accountable for all the horrible, criminal things the last administration did. He was looking forward to all of these evil clowns running against him in 2012. He knew it would make him a shoe-in for re-election no matter how much he did the opposite of what he had promised during his election campaign. It was eleventy-dimensional chess after all!

    masaccio,

The movement conservatives will not succeed. They are a dying echo of a long past that believed human beings had only that value and purpose given them by those who ruled over them. For the moment, these conservatives, who present themselves as corporate monarchists, seem to be in ascendance. Even so, history has shown us again and again that rulers only rule at the will of the people.

Democracy is not a type of politics. It is the belief that to be fully human is to live in a manner that treats every single human being as fundamentally equal to oneself in all the ways that matter. It is the belief that this simple act, the act of seeing the other as coequal with oneself, is enough to collectively establish and maintain those enduring forms of social organization – government, education, the family – that we call society. Hopefully, we have learned enough as a species to finally understand that democracy is the apex of high civilization.

I will not submit to the conservative movement’s madness. No rational and compassionate human being should. Not now. Not ever.

I really don’t think we need another four years of Obama. I used to say, “What’s the matter with him?” I don’t do that anymore. I know what the matter is. He’s a corporate status quo shill.
