    Romney said last night the Progressives wanted to put “free enterprise” on trial for 2012. No, Mitt. It is Trickle Down that needs to be on trial this election.

    Ever since the Wisconsin labor protests in the spring, it has been clear that there is a vast angst amongst working Americans that could be tapped by the right 3rd party Progressive. Obama works the margins of it only, GOP’ers think they’ll once again be able to sell Trickle Down to it.

    And obviously since OWS exploded, there is a fairly paved road now for somebody to front that angst. Like a Bernie Sanders or a Robert Reich or a Van Jones, etc. I will not be surprised to see someone of that ilk announce over the winter. Nobody now declared can do it, and it’s wide open.

    Today Newt was quoted about OWS “I think we ought to confront them head on”.

    Sound like the voice of neo-fascist repression to you? And when Bush was busted violating the FISA law by spying on Americans without warrants, Gingrich said on Meet The Press that we ought to expand the spying.

    …hey, let’s just listen to Cain and the failed GOP, and go back to cut taxes / cut govt that we tried for the 3 decades of the Reagan/Bush era. In fact, let’s get ANOTHER big tax cut to the wealthiest as we did in 1981 and 2001.

    I mean, that worked SO well to deliver trickle down prosperity. Almost nobody is unemployed now. And the banks and oil drillers and health insurers, heck – they POLICED THEMSELVES!!! Get government out of the WAY by golly!

    Under 35 comes out to vote when somebody new inspires them. Obama is done on both counts IMO / not new, policies don’t inspire. Many will sit in 2012, very few will accept the hate-infused messages of the GOP.

    He could recapture it by getting totally behind the OWS message, tax the wealthiest big & demand the nation go to a Green Jobs WPA, to employ millions and achieve energy independence by 2020.

    As Hillary supporters said in 2008, Obama is not a Progressive. He is a pragmatist who will deal away principles when it is to his short-term benefit politically.

    Obama needs to get Warren Buffett – who agrees that upper tax tiers need to go up – and hit the road to GOP districts like Boehner’s, getting on local TV news & newspapers with his position.

    That is how a president damages the poll numbers of opponents. He should have done so last December, instead of caving in on extending the clearly-failed Bush tax cuts of 2001, that Trickled Down zero shared prosperity. An easily winning hand, that Obama won’t play.

  • Mr. Obama, when exactly did you buy into the economy narrative of the party that crashed it? We’re Not Broke. The nation’s wealth has simply rolled to one end of a badly-tilted table for 30 years. And Americans know it intrinsically. That is why they favor tax increases on the wealthiest, 2 to 1. It [...]

    Obama asked for that low rating, by buying in to the false GOP narrative that the debt is the crisis. This after he gave them their Bush tax cut extention last December, that created job loss over 10 years, that he had unilateral power to cancel.

    Amazing how Obama thinks the road forward is compromise and concession, to proven-wrong Reaganites.

  • Do the math on tort reform;

    If all malpractice suits were banned, medical provider charges would only come down maybe 10-15% on the malpractice insurance savings. Still way too expensive for wage Americans to afford outright, and individual health policies would still be completely out of reach to them. Duh.

    Boehner/GOP’s market-based “solution”, won’t come close to solving the health care crisis in America. They’ve been running this facade for decades, and the public finally woke up to it.

    Whether the planet is warming, is irrelevant to the need to get off fossil fuels. The economic, geopolitical and environmental benefits will kick in even without a CO2 benefit. Less pollution, less military deployments, energy dollars stay at home. Those are far better anchors upon which sell biopower & biofuels, to a population that freezes [...]
