Missouri Mule commented on the blog post North Korea Threatens To Attack American Military Bases In Pacific
That’s my worry, Old Fat Guy. They can only threaten and throw tantrums for so long before everyone writes them off as crying wolf.
It seems like they’ve escalated their behavior and rhetoric dramatically in a short period of time. That worries me, too.

Missouri Mule commented on the diary post Over Easy: Monday Science by BoxTurtle.
I was interested in getting one until I learned they are made, if I am remembering correctly, by an Israeli company on land stolen from Palestinians. I couldn’t support that. I ended up (mostly) giving up sodas and now instead I pop a seltzer (just water and carbonation) and add a syrup of some Kool-Aid [...]

Missouri Mule commented on the blog post If Tagg Romney is your Best Hope you are in Serious Trouble
Don’t you think part of whatever appeal Tagg Romney has to the Republicans asking him to run is that he and his father could bankroll the entire election?

Missouri Mule commented on the diary post Is THIS Grounds for Revolution? by Daniel Marks.
Just when I think it can’t get much worse, you prove me wrong. I truly despair for our country and the steady erosion of our rights.
Why do they even pretend to honor the Constitution any more? The men who wrote it would hardly recognize it as it is represented today.

Missouri Mule commented on the blog post Why We Must Abolish the Electoral College
I like the idea but only if we can also eliminate gerrymandering and somehow come up with districts that aren’t tortuously devised to favor one part or another. Otherwise, we aren’t a whole lot closer to those electoral votes being representative.

Missouri Mule commented on the blog post Romney’s Pre-Existing Condition “Plan” Involves Encouraging the States to Come Up With a Plan
Here in MO we’ve got state legislators who believe (as does congressman Akin) that the school lunch program should disappear. One of them famously said that if kids want to eat, they should get a job at McDonald’s because they can eat all they want there. It’s sickening.
And Romney’s jig last night left me dizzy. All ponies and no substance.
I’m so glad I’m voting for Jill Stein. (In Missouri, Stein is an approved write-in candidate).

Missouri Mule commented on the blog post Obama’s Second Term Goal: Cut Social Security
You don’t have to– and shouldn’t– wait and look for someone else to make this happen. You are part of that. It takes people being willing to vote for 3rd party candidates who actually represent their values. Until people are willing to do this, the D and R parties will not magically break up on their own.
I’m voting 3rd party and, yes, I know my candidate isn’t going to win. But it sends the message of what I want. And it will be great to vote *for* someone this time.

Missouri Mule commented on the blog post The Paul Ryan Budget is Sinking the Romney Campaign
IMO, everyone’s pretty dismayed with their so-called “choices.”
People might want to consider broadening their choices from two to many more. I’m voting 3rd party because I cannot support Obama again. Yes, my candidate won’t win, but I’ll be able to vote *for* a candidate and her policies. My conscience will rest better, too.

Missouri Mule commented on the diary post Nothing More Evil by David Swanson.
Me, too!
My question wasn’t directed at you but at Valatius. It’s clear you aren’t voting for Obama or Romney.
I know Stein won’t win, but my conscience will feel a whole lot better when I vote for her.

Missouri Mule commented on the blog post The Paul Ryan Budget is Sinking the Romney Campaign
Even here in our red, red part of the world, we’ve seen fewer than a handful of Romney-Ryan bumper stickers. You’ll see far more McCain-Palin stickers.

Missouri Mule commented on the diary post Nothing More Evil by David Swanson.
Why do you limit yourself to two evil choices? Third party candidates will never have a chance unless we start voting for them. And voting for a third party tells Obama what you support (and what you’re against) a heck of a lot better than voting for him does. He’ll take your vote as 100% [...]

Missouri Mule commented on the blog post Republican Flip-Flopping on Akin Is a Sign of Romney’s Failure
I hear you. And I’m a woman who does live in Missouri. Should Akin win, I might have to go back to referring to it as “Misery” instead.

Missouri Mule commented on the blog post Our legacy: the Emancipation Proclamation, a lynched chair, and a confederate flag
I happened across this today and thought I’d share it here:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/white-slave-children-new-orleans-1860s-propaganda-campaign-gallery-1.1164989This gallery of pictures of slave children selected to look white and appealing to northerners made my skin crawl. I felt dirty just having looked at the pictures. And I felt so, so sad.
