I agree. I saw that speech on another website. It’s what got me wondering,”what is his problem?”, considering where he came from.

mls78 commented on the blog post President Obama Makes Ronald Reagan Proud
I can’t help but think that emotionally Obama is still that lonely kid, one of two African-Americans, attending the elitist Punahou High School in Honolulu trying too hard be one of the rich kids. Maybe a good psychologist could help him to snap out of it.

Title IX? Do you mean the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act?
She was a true visionary. Mahalo Patsy, the world could use someone like you now.

Give the Catholic Church another 300 to 400 years or so. That’s about how long it takes for them to come around to the rest of the world’s view. Think Galileo.

mls78 commented on the blog post Maggie, I Wish I’d Never Seen Your Face
This made me wonder what her, now adult, son thinks about marriage equality after being raised by someone like this. He seems to disagree with his mother, but not enough to comment publicly. Apparently he is a writer of musicals in New York. Go figure. Here is the link about the son. Some good comments there too, with a little back and forth between Maggie and the writer.

mls78 commented on the diary post The REAL War on Christmas by GregoriusU.
Every time Bill O and his ilk hear Happy Holidays used instead of Merry Christmas it reminds them that not everyone celebrates Christmas. They are forced to think of the “other” which is anathema to them. It makes them uncomfortable to have a caring thought for someone other than themselves. They are incapable, self-centered pricks [...]

The white house petitions page https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/ says there are no petitions listed under the issue of social security. Maybe you can try creating it again.

Maybe it has something to do with this UK security firm they used to protect the “consulate”.

mls78 commented on the diary post Pull Up a Chair by Ruth Calvo.
Just jumping in to tell you that the Koch Bros lost that one i.e. prop 32. I’m not from California, but have been watching a lot of their propositions and am sad to say the vote that I was most interested in lost (i.e. prop 37 – the one about GMO labeling). Big business (read [...]

1.) time will tell 2.) yes 3.) yes 4.) sure why not? 5.) no I voted my conscience, but I live in a blue state. I’m still not sure that I would have, if I lived in Ohio or Florida. The tons of money behind Romney certainly ratcheted up the notion that he could actually [...]

It is a safe bet if those two at the top are for it, everyone else should be against it. More on that list.

mls78 commented on the diary post ‘US has never been straight with its people about its foreign policy aims’ by CTuttle.
Knowing another cultures perspective is key to understanding. Some here may not want to hear it, but thank you for spelling it out and saying it straight. It needed to be said. Sometimes that is the only way to get the message across.

mls78 commented on the blog post Tell Boys & Girls Club of Chicago: Ditch Rahm
You would be right about Rahms kids. They go to University of Chicago Laboratory schools. Not sure of where the aldermens kids go.
You may have seen this you tube already, but it bears repeating. It is a you tube of a trial lawyer and parent of kids in a Chicago Public School. He tells it like it is on the type of education Rahms and the Board of Education member, Penny Pritzkers kids get vs Chicago Public School kids. He certainly made his case.

mls78 commented on the blog post Smug American Elitism at the Olympics Opening Ceremony
I tuned in to see how the UK would do the opening ceremonies and to watch the parade of athletes from each country. I would have liked to have heard more about the athletes from each country and the events they were going to be competing in rather than stupid one liners from overpaid, infotainment announcers.
Both the announcers inane commentary and the constant commercial interruptions ruined it. Lesson learned…next time, I will research the information on my own and watch it live on the internet.
