To be more exact, both parties have been a disaster for people outside the top 10%!

mplo commented on the diary post Why vote for Obama? Let me count the whys – 1 by David Seaton.
I see what you’re saying, ambassadorzot, but I can’t bring myself to vote for either Romney or Obama in this fall’s POTUS election. I’ll either vote for Jill Stein or Rocky Anderson, depending which one of the two latter is on the Bay State ballot this fall.

mplo commented on the diary post The girl killed by Barack Obama – she never saw it coming [Graphic Video] by jest.
It is rather sickening..and disgusting, isn’t it? It goes to show that Obama and Romney are more alike than a lot of voters are willing to admit.

mplo commented on the diary post NLG: Cops and Informants Cause Most Protest Violence by Phoenix Woman.
This is not new. Groups and movements have always been infiltrated by people who’re hostile towards them, in order to make legitimate movements look bad.

That’s great to hear! It’s a breath of fresh air in an atmosphere of meanness, greed and nastiness.

mplo commented on the diary post Please Sign This Petition For Palestinian Statehood by CTuttle.
The two-state solution, with Jerusalem as a shared Capitol between the two states of Israel and Palestine, is the only safe, sane and sensible solution to this decades-old debacle. I don’t like Bibi Netanyahu’s plan…at all, and I believe that the International Community, as well as Israel, the UN and the United States, must move [...]

mplo commented on the diary post The Fraud of the Two Party System has been exposed. Can we stop playing along now? by debbierlus.
Unless there really is a fantastic Democratic POTUS Candidate who won’t turn around and backstab their base, I will not play along any more. Come the next POTUS election, I will either vote for what I consider a viable third party or do what I did at the polls at the 2008 POTUS election—do a [...]

mplo wrote a new diary post: Some Questions for Everybody:
Back when I first began posting here and on the other soapblox blogs, I posted a very long, pro-Gun Control essay, that got many different answers, some controversial, some agreeing with me, and others disagreeing with me, either calmly or not so calmly. Reading and hearing about the death of the little girl in the midwest at [...] -

I never considered that, but it’s an interesting thought, caleb36. You may very well be spot-on about that.

mplo wrote a new diary post: Cellphone Use and Texting in Movie Theaters–Possible Consequences:
This time, I have written about something completely different than what I’ve written about in previous essays, but it’s something that affects pretty much every moviegoer (myself included) who’d much rather view movies on a great big, wide screen, in a real movie theatre, with the lights down low, among other people, whether one knows them [...] -
mplo commented on the diary post Keep On Rockin’ In The Free World: Give Obama and the Dems Some Credit For A Change by Edger.
Sorry, shekissesfrogs, but Obama himself is to blame for surrounding himself with the kind of people that he’s surrounded himself by, and for caving in at every turn to the GOP. Obama pretends to have the people’s interests at heart, but, in reality, is so full of BS that it stinks all the way from [...]

mplo commented on the diary post Tim DeChristopher at NN11: Obama Administration Pursues Activists Like Previous Administrations (VIDEO) by Kevin Gosztola.
Good for Tim DeChristopher for sticking up for his principles. He’s a rare bird indeed, especially nowadays. I didn’t vote for Obama because I saw all this coming from the get-go, when he voted for the FISA Bill and for continued funding on our war on Iraq, and promised to escalate, extend and expand our [...]

I wholeheartedly agree, caleb36. Better still, Obama should be voted out altogether next year.

mplo commented on the diary post Time for a Reality Check … by radicalee.
Right you are, OldFatGuy! You too, radicalee! The supposed evolution to a more “civilized” culture and society is neither, if one gets the drift. There’s no such thing as a civilized society or culture. It just plain doesn’t exist, and never did exist, which is how and why the rule of law often ends, or [...]

mplo commented on the diary post At Least 16 Killed by The IDF in Nakba Protests by CTuttle.
One doesn’t have to approve of Israel’s cruel and brutal occupation of West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, with its settler/settlements policies, and overall ugly treatment of the Palestinian civilians residing in those territories to realize that the best that the Palestinians in West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem can hope for is [...]

mplo commented on the diary post The majority of Americans are fed up with the Tea Party/Republican AND the Democrat Parties by Liz Berry.
I, too wish we could just get rid of both major parties (the GOP and the Democratic Party) and support a real, viable, genuinely progressive third party. That, imho, would be the way to go.
