NoOneYouKnow commented on the blog post Security Firms Pitching Bank of America on WikiLeaks Response Proposed Targeting Glenn Greenwald

Yikes. That voltaire.net article is hair-raising.

    2011-01-29 10:36:55View | Delete

The GMO companies like Monsanto, and their co-conspirators like Whole Foods Inc and government tools like Tom Vilsack, are truly committing crimes against humanity and the environment. These people are threatening environmental catastrophe.

NoOneYouKnow commented on the blog post JAG Officer Writes to Dylan Ratigan on Bradley Manning’s Rights

    2011-01-28 12:14:19View | Delete

Unless Ratigan wanted to expose simultaneously the cynicism, cruelty and ignorance of his guests, my guess is he chose them because they’d give predictable answers.

NoOneYouKnow commented on the blog post Who Is Paying for Dewey Clarridge’s Old Spy Novels?

    2011-01-22 14:34:30View | Delete

Who’s funding Clarridge? Well, there’s an awful lot of opium in Afghanistan, and we have these good friends in Turkey ….

Thanks for filming this protest and for protesting. I wrote a postcard to Manning today. And an “amen” to those pointing out that Manning is being tortured by the Obama administration, and probably with Obama’s direct knowledge. There’s no serious difference between the Dems and Repubs anymore; they’re all part of the Corporate Party.

The clearest comment I can make about the NYTimes is that I live in NYC and, aside from Krugman, almost never read it. The Times is a propaganda organ.

Well, ambitious young journalists who want to write for the NYTimes have to write what the NYTimes wants them to write. It’s not called Pravda on the Hudson for nothing.

NoOneYouKnow commented on the diary post Tomgram: William Hartung, Lockheed Martin’s Shadow Government by Tom Engelhardt.

    2011-01-11 18:05:04View | Delete

The goal of the corporate takeover of American government is to access the US Treasury and the taxpayers. In the privatization of public education, the military, social security, health care, infrastructure, the primary purpose is profit. The secondary, usually distinctly secondary goal, is to do whatever government has paid for and citizens need. The corporations [...]

Not to mention Switzerland, Germany and many other nations where firearms are commonly owned and kept in the home but mass shootings like this are quite rare.

Excellent point. If a poster suggests that people who carry concealed weapons have small dicks, and you carry a concealed weapon, please assume that the poster meant all people who carry concealed weapons but you. That way we can insult entire groups of people indiscriminately without “making it personal.”

In the US military, the greatest risk for women is sexual assault by their male comrades. Women can be great soldiers, but I’m not sure the US military can handle that.

Hinder him by addressing his fears? Addressing or assuaging someone’s fears usually makes him calmer and more confident. I don’t understand your point.

    2011-01-09 21:59:42View | Delete

And a little class-based, regional bigotry from a free-thinking progressive! Nice job; when you need to start a dialogue to gain some political traction, you instead throw insults like teabagger.

    2011-01-09 18:26:53View | Delete

It’s overheated rhetoric like Ms Calvo’s that causes a huge swathe of the American public to tune out liberals–but I’m sure Scalia and Co. admire her willingness to shred the Constitution to comfort her biases. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State . . .”. The founders knew exactly [...]

You’re braver and tougher than I am, Margaret. The Navy’s injustice and hypocrisy is stunning, if not surprising. I hope your situation improves, and I hope you find a lawyer who will sue the Navy’s collective ass off. Thanks.

Thanks for saving me writing that.
Back in the mid-70s, a high poobah from Eastman Kodak had dinner with at my family’s house. He told us that the US was going to move away from a production economy to a service economy. I asked him what exactly we were going to serve each other; even at 14, I could tell this was a bad idea.
Needless to say, he was outraged that someone, much less a child, would question the righteousness of his (their) thinking. 35 years later-Voila! We’re a banana republic (and Eastman Kodak is just about moribund).

No, you really don’t get it, so let’s make it even easier: Obama’s a Republican. He’s not a progressive, liberal or a lefty, and he’s not a coward, ignorant, spineless, or any of these other excuses put forward by Obama’s apologists and the still-uncomprehending. He’s a right-wing corporatist. He’s a bad guy. He lied to [...]
