normanb commented on the diary post Over Easy: Monday…er, Wednesday Science by BoxTurtle.
Physically addictive drugs require larger and larger amounts of the drug to get high, but on Cocaine, novice or experienced user, people who take the OD amount (1.2 grams) die. No increased capacity for tolerance, as with Alcohol and Opiates. Propagandists have changed the meaning of “addiction” to include sex and gambling and food. When [...]

Crippling, no doubt, but using the medical term for something specifically different causes confusion.

Good work Box Turtle. The Cocaine Vaccine looks like a bogus story to me: Science Digest talks about Cocaine “addiction,” even though it is not physically addictive. Propaganda to smear users of Cocaine and Amphetamines often call them “Coke addicts” or “Crack addicts” or “Meth addicts.” But these drugs do not cause the physiological changes (such [...]

Oh yes, and with Obama’s help, Bush has been able to trick American women into voting FOR restricting Abortions: It was President Obama himself who unilaterally conceded in his first televised speech announcing creation of his national healthcare program that Abortions would not be covered.

The biggest part of Bush’s legacy was his installation of Barack Obama as his official spokesmodel: With Obama’s help, Bush has been able to trick African Americans into voting FOR Lynch Mobs , Slavery , Legalizing MLK’s Murder , and Genocides against Black Africans. With Obama’s help, Bush has been able to trick Mexican Americans into [...]

Riot police and rubber bullets sounds terrible: I did not hear about that part yet: I just reacted to the socialist victory.

At this point, it is very important to keep in mind that Ed Markey was Bernie Madoff’s man in Washington exactly when Madoff needed cover to pull off the biggest Ponzi scheme in history. http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/12/madoff-and-company-spent-nearl.html The next year, 2007, Enernoc had it IPO in NASDAQ, which Madoff was the President of: Since at least 2010, [...]

normanb commented on the diary post Sunday Water Cooler: Happy Birthday Shorty Rogers, Loretta Lynn, Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple), and Steve Martin by dakine01.
I just watched both “Highway Star” and Blackmore’s live rendition of Edvard Greig’s 1876 “In the Hall of the Mountain King” from Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite – incidental music to Henrik Ibsen’s play Peer Gynt . I had always liked Electric Light Orchestra’s version of Hall, but Blackmore did it justice. Listening to ELO’s afterward was anti-climactic, since [...]

Such great news, but with Neo-Nazi Brennan now in charge of the CIA, will Maduro actually be allowed to continue?

normanb commented on the diary post Research: Volcanic Aerosols Largely Responsible for Recent Warming Slowdown by WeatherDem.
Volcanoes’ clouding/cooling effects are not their only effects on climate. Volcanoes also emit large amounts of the most common (and therefore the most troubling) Greenhouse Gases, as well as some of the rarer ones. Water Vapor and Carbon Dioxide are the two most common GHGs in our atmosphere, and the two causing the most Global [...]

And in fact, when the last Ice Ace ended, most of Earth’s animals larger than humans died out quickly from Global Warming, putting us at the top of the food chain:
So, this new Global Warming extinction paradigm has us near the top of the list.

Great again.
At the time that this song and album hit, and REO became giant stars, my girlfriend then loved this album and all its radio hits. I on the other hand loved their political hard rock anthems from years past: Golden Country and Riding the Storm Out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVFgEBq0EKM
