I can attest that here in Wisconsin at least, the issue of tax cuts for billionaires and cuts in Social Security and Medicare is a drop dead winner unless the corpoprate Democrats behind Rahm Emmanuel cut a budget “grand bargain” and, like he’s tryin to do in the recall race, ObamaRahma cuts the legs out from under progressive Democrats and pushes a Blue Dog strategy (remember 1994). The issue of economic stimulus, tax fairness and jobs can actually be transfornational of the political dialogue. My concern is not only with the potential for sabotage of Democratic electoral issues but, more worrisome, is the starving of Democratic legislative candidates by the DNC and OFA…without a 50 state strategy to concentrate not only money but message, I think that we could be in for the nightmare of an Obama re-election and a loss of the Senate as well as the House.

We have seen the ugly profile of Rahm behind the anti-union, “centerist” primary front runner for governor here but in addition, all the old dead wood leadership including, to my immense sadness, David Obey are linnin’ up against the two progressive women candidates and I will predict that if Barrett wins the primary Walker will win the recall.

Every single move over the last 4 years from this White House mirrors 1992-96. Remember Rahm’strategy of 1992-94 which was to get Democrats to accept dismantling fundamental safety net programs to alienate the congressional Democrats’ base and then force a tax increase just before the off year election? When Clintonarahma then walked away from incumbant Democrats during the off-year election, he managed to loose the Democratic Majority in the house for the first time in 50 years and provide cover for Clinton and the neo-liberal bankers to open the treasury to the stock market casino. The rest, as they say is “history”.

Now, if the testicles ObamaRahma seems to have grown in threatening a shutdown in an election year really function and produce some testosterone, then we should see some action administratively with executive orders like non-discrimination in federal contracts and Justice Department investigation of the constitutionality of voters supression laws which will shore up the Democratic base and energize movements at the state level like here in Wisconsin.

Even the appearance of standing up for Democratic principles will go a long way toward getting the vote out where it matters most…do you think ObamaRahma will walk the walk?

Just a heads up with a little more cheerful news: The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has just released a scathing denoucement of the Ryan budget…copy Hunter at Daily Kos.

There is so much confusion and outright craziness in the political discourse right now, all the way down to local school board elections and contests for animal control office that I’m wondering if we aren’t in for a real wave election season, beginnin’ in May here in Wisconsin. Rob Zerban is building a real opposition force against Ryan in his own district and the debacle of the national war on women’s health and birth control has the Catholic hierarchy and local Catholic political wankers are scramblin’ all over the place to distance themselves from lunatics like Ryan. Now if ObamaRahma would just stop adding to the confusion and keep from self-immolating in the burning dump that the lunatic fascists have lit for us, we might get somethin done in this country.

I followed up to the New Bottom Line’s web site and called Obama(bots) for America…after a bit of a wait I got a very harried operator who took my call for Demarco’s resignation and I also told her I was a long time Democratic Party activist and wouldn’t be givin a dime to OFA or the SuperPac and further, I wasn’t alone and that there are a whole bunch of us out here who are plenty pissed off and won’t be carryin’ any spears for Barry if he doesn’t put the squeeze on the banksters before November. The volunteer took it all down (at least she slowed me down a couple times to get it all) and took my demographics. This is the first time in months that I’ve had anything like a real response from OFA…maybe the White House operatives are gettin worried, I know that there is one White House operator who’s a bit stressed.
