I’m calling BS on this whole thread. Guess that makes me a racist.
It’s obvious that calling Obama son and patting him on the head (rhetorically, btw) was intended to be condescending and make reference to his lack of experience and relative youth, but I don’t think it is “racist”. It may be a more typically southern thing to call a younger person “son”, still not racist. I wouldn’t interpret “son” the same way as “boy” which has pretty longstanding and significant racial connotations.
I would be more inclined to judge the speaker harshly on his ridiculous and unnecessary reference to a “Dorito width” or whatever he said – wtf is that supposed to mean? And then he didn’t even eat the chip?! That would have been some pretty effective speech comm 101 shit there.

It doesn’t appear to have undergone peer-review yet if it hasn’t been published. And if this is a doctoral candidate then the work probably hasn’t been defended yet. I would also suggest that the statement regarding ozone exposure and lung cancer and the associated link be checked for accuracy.
