The sooner the next crash comes, the better.
Then drive a stake into the banksters’ hearts instead of bail them out when they are down.
That is the lesson of 2008.

At a certain point, we lose the ability to be shocked by this sort of thing.
It’s sort of like how everybody in the 1080′s Soviet Union knew the whole system was a corrupt fraud, but they kept having to play the game to survive on a day-to-day basis.

Admittedly it is from way back in 2007, which might as well be the stone age as regards Internet communications and social media.

Sometimes a longer perspective like this is needed, in order for us to wonder “How did we get to HERE from THERE?”
I forwarded this to my father, a USAF veteran from the late 1960′s, to hopefully help him understand the world we of the younger generations face today.

What will probably happen is Obama will END UP SHOOTING THE HOSTAGE to prevent the dastardly R’s from doing it first.
Therefore, both sides get what they want, while the hostage can’t object any more?

As a resident of NY State, and only a county away from the shale area, I am not counting on Cuomo to do what the people want. He is starting to turn out to be a mini-Obama; for instance when Democrats won enough seats to take over the State Senate (despite gerrymandering the districts), Cuomo [...]

In the end, though, any successful revolutionary movement only succeeds through the use of force or the threat of force. That was true of all of the SUCCESSFUL movements that you mentioned in your essay, and that was what Mao was talking about. That, and focus on a few specific goals that the majority of the [...]

Regarding the “demand gap”…
I’ve recently discovered the existence of “Social “Credit” theory of economics..
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Credit
In this view a demand gap is inevitable under capitalism as the wages and other remuneration paid into the economy by the private sector will ALWAYS be less than the costs required to purchase the goods & services produced by the private sector.
This leads to a downward spiral of real wages and economic security for workers… just what has been observed for the last several decades.
Some type of external intervention is ALWAYS needed to keep the train barreling down the tracks. The problem is the government for decades has been intervening in ways that are helpful to a few while harming the many.
Now that the government can borrow money at essentially ZERO interest cost (potentially even at a NEGATIVE real interest rate) it seems logically absurd not to take advantage of the current situation.
Of course, that only applies if the government’s goal is to actually increase economic security for the citizenry. Which is becoming increasingly clear not to be the case, as the government has been brought under the control of what amounts to a band of looters trying to grab as much as they can before the whole edifice collapses.

ny40something commented on the diary post House GOP Dim Bulbs’ Bright Idea? Raise Your Utility Bill by Scarecrow.
The difference between the two parties is that one pretends to care about the American people, and the other one … doesn’t even bother to pretend to care. As to the new bulbs, new INCANDESCENT (not CFL) bulbs are in development, but in the meantime I think halogen bulbs are getting a big push – [...]

ny40something commented on the blog post Almost All Americans Believe the Ultra Rich Have Too Much Power
The macroeconomy of the Roman Empire was based upon plunder and tribute from conquering ever more lands and subjects.
Once the empire stopped expanding its borders, the easy streams of plunder dried up, and the whole thing began a slow death-spiral.
I see some parallels with the globalist money lords, in that their macroeconomy is based upon extracting plunder and tribute from countries and entire regions. Just follow the debt and currency crises around the world the last few decades… Latin America, Southeast Asia, Russia, now Europe… once they have plundered all they can the money lords just move on to the next victim.
The US is being lined up on the chopping block as the next victim to be reduced to serfdom.

Coming soon to a country near you.
At least we might be able to read all about ourselves being detained and shot on the Internet, since SOPA seems dead in the House for now, although the Reid in the Senate supposedly wants to bring PROTECT IP (the Senate version) up for vote first thing in January.
“Here’s Wired’s take on what went down:
The House Judiciary Committee considering whether to send the Stop Online Piracy Act to the House floor abruptly adjourned Friday with no new vote date set – a surprise given that the bill looked certain to pass out of committee today.”

ny40something commented on the blog post Guest Post: Rocky Anderson a Progressive Alternative to Obama
The only way to get the politicians to take notice is to take your votes away from them.
However, the issue then becomes, will enough people be willing to let Obama fall and install the GOP back into the Presidency, even as a tactical measure, for the strategic goal of essentially reducing the Democratic Party to a hollow shell and leaving the field open in the future for a truly new major party?
Part of me thinks that some of this energy needs to be spent trying to get 3rd-party candidates into the Congress… a few dozen in the House could exert some leverage over the 2 major parties. If the Justice Party does well enough that it can stay in existence past 2012, the 2014 Congressional elections could be quite an opportunity…
That said…
OWS is not a political movement, it is essentially a resistance movement, and although I think it may INSPIRE political movements, OWS itself should stay on the front lines and let others following behind secure the territory it advances into. This will allow any inspired political movements to present themselves as “less radical than OWS” and make more headway into the population at large.

ny40something commented on the blog post Guest Post: Rocky Anderson a Progressive Alternative to Obama
I have seen some thoughts about FDL that some type of alliance or combination ticket between the Justice Party and the Green Party should be worked out.
The main reason I have seen given for this idea being that the Green Party already has ballot lines secured for about 40 states, which could potentially be assigned to Justice Party candidates.
