nycterrierist commented on the blog post Moving to the Right Won’t Help Obamacare Politically
Thanks for putting the name to the thing.

Touche! worthy of Ambrose Bierce.
nycterrierist commented on the blog post Coalition Files Lawsuit Against Idaho Ag-Gag Law That Targets Journalism, Whistleblowing & Speech
Great development. This is so important.
The Ag-Gag bills are obscene.
“My idea is to support TaxWallStreetParty. Name says it all. Will immediately appeal to grass roots, policies, not only taxing all financial transactions, including derivatives, at 1%, but also nationalizing FRB and using its balance sheet to finance massive infrastructure spending, with concomitant job creation, etc. ” Great idea. Maybe here at fdl we can [...]
And health care policy doesn’t pay attention to regular people.
nycterrierist commented on the blog post Glenn Greenwald Plans Return To United States To Test Press Rights
I didn’t think it would be possible to be more
impressed with this guy, but Greenwald is showing
everyone how it’s done.
As yellowsnapdragon said upthread, ‘courage is contagious’
and GG is walking the walk.
He’s a hero.
I do hope he doesn’t become a martyr, too.
whoops, correct link:
nycterrierist commented on the blog post The Problem for Progressives is Corruption Not Messaging
This administration prefers to govern by packaging
and p.r. so I can see how the Dims feel all cosy with Lakoff’s
framing. It sucks up oxygen from more pertinent analyses and distracts their ranks very nicely.
nycterrierist commented on the blog post House Farm Bill Includes $8 Billion Of Cuts To Food Stamps
Community gardens with allotments where people
can grow food would be awesome.
Enjoyable and educational for kids, too.
Don’t they have something like this (or did until recently) in the U.K.?
Great piece today on Truthout on the nefarious ‘ag-gag’ laws that protect factory farms and other animal cruelty profiteers: “A lawsuit filed today seeks to strike down the federal Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. Politicians, industry and law enforcement too long employed the rhetoric and apparatus of national security to counter effective animal advocacy, labeling those [...]
Thank you for this post.
There are so many fronts where we need to protect
our fellow sentient beings from human cruelty and ignorance:
from puppy mills and dog-fighting to just plain stupidity.
Stricter animal welfare legislation is long overdue!
In keeping with this administration’s deplorable war on wildlife,
Obama undermines hard-won measures to protect sharks from cruel ‘finning’ – cutting the fins off live sharks at sea:
“Democrats in Congress and a broad coalition of conservation groups say the US federal government is poised to overturn bans on the sale of shark fin soup in eight states, in support of a federal law that offers far more limited shark protection.
“The proposed regulation is actually setting conservation back,” said Angelo Villagomez, a shark expert at the Pew Charitable Trusts.
“The federal regulation would overturn the state and territorial shark fin bans. The states that banned the sale of shark fin soup would now have to allow the sale of shark fin soup.”
Agreed. Unfortunately, they’ll paper over their
worse-than-nothingburger with Hillary in 2016 – prepare for lots of distraction
about the first woman president. Identity politics to the rescue!
I guess he didn’t try to sell the sheeple on the TPP and how it’s going to create more ‘middle-class jobs’ like the great opportunities in Amazon warehouses!
He’s probably hoping to slip it by under the radar.
I can only watch this by fdl proxy.
nycterrierist commented on the blog post Tom Perkins Doubles Down On Comparing Occupy Wall Street To Nazis
The Nazis were authoritarians, above all (ha! uber alles)
Leaderless Occupy was the exact opposite.
Perkins is clearly a historical idiot who is just running his mouth.
Why do we even pay attention to these buffoons?
