Perhaps the republicans don’t think any Log Cabin Republicans would ever beat their spouses up on occasion.

Sounds like Obama comes trolling for votes in Massachusetts. Throws some cash around. Via a bank part owned by taxpayers in the first place.

The station pays ASCAP, SESAC or BMI – not the artist. It’s like if an artist has an issue with being played in a bar that serves alcohol, or has a criminally convicted owner.
It also seems to be why artists like Stevie Wonder, Kook&TheGang, EarthWind&Fire, and the estates of Rick James or Michael Jackson haven’t spoken up about Rush having recently used their music on his show. Despite Rush’s past racist comments.

What we need next is a law making the writing of bad checks okay.
If the banks can do it, why not consumers.

It’s amazing that doormen newsheads (I’m including Rachel Maddow in this one) don’t understand the variety or servicer abuses going on. There really are only a handful of aggressive journalists who get it. By that term, I don’t literally mean they live in doormen skyscrapers, but they might as well, by the distance between them and the heart of some stories they report on.
And Bank Of America wants to reduce its business with Fannie Mae. Curious timing.

Politico is closer to The National Enquirer than it is to even The Washington Post. So it doesn’t surprise me that GT doesn’t see what others and even I saw in his story.
That Obama’s people feel the need to spin VaporWare still suggests the deal isn’t cohesive, or is actually falling apart. And the idea players are getting knifed behind their back (or other messier activities) might hasten the latter.

Housing Wire is claming Treasury will not allow the use of HAMP dollars by the banks in the settlement…
Treasury shields HAMP dollars away from AG settlement
“There is no way that we would allow federal dollars used for HAMP principal reduction or Hardest Hit Fund programs to be used for servicer credit under the settlement,” said Darius Kingsley, chief of homeownership preservation office at the Treasury, in an interview with HousingWire.

obelizk commented on the blog post SuperPACs Increasingly Becoming Entire Republican Campaign
Since it will be these guys against Obama, do they miss the point that their position is easy to explain? Big money in politics? An entity to be defeated for true democracy to survive over plutocracy. People will vote against their very presence as the ersatz GOP on the ticket. SuperPacs could instead be the very reason for the collapse of the 2012 republican vote across the political landscape.

San Francisco’s report will be ignored and downplayed to the best of all the AGs abilities. An underling, a freaking underling, came up with a report that shows the big brass have all been avoiding their duties. Making them all look bad. So now, Ting’s a bug that has to be crushed. And all those like him who suddenly think their prospects will improve if they do the same in their own states.
No, the work will go to shutting down actual investigations, rather than actually investigating foreclosure processes and fraud. Especially on the consumer side.

Bank Mortgage Securitization Probes Will Proceed, Say New York, Delaware

Note that that San Francisco investigation did not come up…

Memory Lane on Secretary of State William Galvin and BofA.
In the early to mid ’90′s, Fleet Bank was found guilty of redlining, and giving unfavorable terms to minorities regarding all areas from checking/savings accounts to loan terms. The remedy? Fleet basically had to accept every minority applicant at approved terms.
Fleet was eventually bought by Bank of America. So it’s not like any bank that repeated that behaviour should expect to get away with it. Especially one that bought the one that got whacked for previous crimes.

FYI, BofA’s stock price hasn’t really moved since yesterday. Many of the other four were down a little earlier.

Mr. D…
This week you and Yves have been beyond available compliments.
I would buy you a beer, but we all need you at the top of your game.
I would buy you a coffee, but you are clearly keyed up without more caffeine.
Hopefully you actually get some rest over the weekend.

NYT Says the deal is done.
States Negotiate $25 Billion Deal for Homeowners
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/09/business/states-negotiate-25-billion-deal-for-homeowners.html?_r=1&hpDespite the billions earmarked in the accord, the aid will help a relatively small portion of the millions of borrowers who are delinquent and facing foreclosure. The success could depend in part on how effectively the program is put into effect because earlier efforts by Washington to help troubled borrowers aided far fewer than had been expected.
Officials will also be able to pursue any allegations of criminal wrongdoing. In addition, a lawsuit Mr. Schneiderman filed Friday against MERS, an electronic mortgage registry responsible for much of the robo-signing that has marred the foreclosure process nationwide, and three banks, Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo, will also go forward.
