In 1968, if I had $200 and a bus ticket to Canada, I would not have been in Vietnam in 1969. What year was Choi drafted? I must have missed that somewhere. But now we have National Guard personnel who joined for a few more bucks to supplement their income, dying in a war that should not be. This guy is the gay version of Glenn Beck as far as I’m concerned. No one that knows me, knows me as a former Marine Sgt. That never was, nor will it ever be,the way I want to be identified. Dan Choi on the otherhand, seems to still like for people to call him Lieutenant Choi. Is he still a Lieutenant, and again, what year was he drafted?

I am an ordinary American, very ordinary, ordinary to the point that sites such as FDL are my only recourse for anonymous,impersonal rants. If you have never attended a townhall meeting, at any government level, let me enlighten you. It is, more times than not, just a token gesture. From my city council member, on up the ladder to Richard Shelby. They are there because they think they need to be. I have quit e-mailing, and have started sending them hand written letters. Does anyone out there know how hard it is to compose a letter in cursive? I now consider this (computer) form of communication ABC,123. Anyway, thanks again David, as usual, good article. I have a question. Can anyone point me toward a conservative site that I can comment on blogs? I’ve started looking around, but their sites are for the most part, not well put together. You would think they could, like FDL, hire a competent web developer. Maybe they spent to much money on Lipton tea.

Your statement was a paradox. Yes, private business has to make a profit to pay the light bill. We have to work to pay our light bill. Do we need to spend billions on an unjustified war? No. Do companies on the NYSE, unions, the boards of these companies, need to quit having a pissing contest, with our elected officials holding “it” for them? Yes. It, in my opinion is a plan. Divided we fall. They will all tell you, I know what is best for you. Washington is the culprit and purveyor, not Obama specifically, but the people we sent to Washington to look after our best interests.

Perhaps I was being too simplistic. I was harkening back to the days of Jimmy Carter and the botched attempt to rescue our hostages in Tehran. I do not agree, it was one of the few times Obama acted like he still had a set.
