otchmoson commented on the blog post Securitization Fraud Task Force Continues to “Prove” Worth With Metrics
Does anyone ever wonder how many GWB left-over employees remain at DOJ (you know, those superlative Liberty University grads) whose long-term directive was to block and obfuscate until GWB’s legacy can be re-written, and all wrongdoing passes the “sell-by” date?

otchmoson commented on the blog post Almost No Regular Americans Rank Deficit As Their Top Issue
There was a great article on Naked Capitalism yesterday that did a great job not only explaining ‘deficits’, but differentiating between sovereign currency-producing government and state & local governments as well as individuals. J. D. Alt: Playing Monopolis Monopoly: An Inquiry Into Why We Are Making Ourselves So Miserable As long as the media and pundits can successfully conflate the two and instill fear into the conservative mind, it’s not possible to wipe deficit fear from the public mind. Oh, for a bit of education for the uninformed! http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2012/05/j-d-alt-playing-monopolis-monopoly-an-inquiry-into-why-we-are-making-ourselves-so-miserable.html

Make that a ‘motion’ and I’ll second it. Where’s the IRS when you need them? Obviously they’re not auditing Wall Street or the PTB’s. Let them go after churches–all, including Catholic and Mormon!

otchmoson commented on the diary post You’re in Our Thoughts and Prayers, Jane Hamsher; an Open Card by wendydavis.
I’ll share this sympathy message once sent to me as I struggled with the illness and subsequent loss of a beloved pet: When someone you love leaves this world where you are, If you keep loving her as you ought, You’ll discover she has not gone far; She’s as near as your next loving thought. [...]

Peterr–
You always bring a balance to the discourse that is missing from all of the right side and much of the left. Thank you for your efforts.

otchmoson commented on the diary post Romney: Bank of America protestors too young to understand how banks work by Jeff Mann.
Maybe these ‘young people’ don’t know how banks works–but I imagine they DO understand how Mitt works (or doesn’t) . . . and that is Mitt’s problem

Conard does a neat two-step around this basic fact.
Here’s a little two-step; enjoy. (I cannot read articles like yours without this picture leaping to mind. Thanks for the memory jogs–that seems to be a necessity nowadays.)

otchmoson commented on the blog post Federal Government’s Favorable Rating Collapses
I’m a bit older than you . . . but the female side of my lineage is quite long; I no longer consider that a ‘feature’ but a ‘bug.’

otchmoson commented on the blog post Federal Government’s Favorable Rating Collapses
Have you considered that even with Bush the 2nd and Obama, we may not yet have seen the worst? Guess that is one of the downsides of long life???

otchmoson commented on the blog post Federal Government’s Favorable Rating Collapses
My understanding regarding term limits is that, ultimately, the long-term (unelected) staffers would be running the show. That doesn’t seem like a good outcome, either.

otchmoson commented on the blog post Social Security Trustee Report: Bad Economy Hurting Payroll Collection
Not to worry! With ever-escalating healthcare and food costs, it can be predicted that seniors will follow the Republican meme: Don’t get sick; if you do, die quick. Hastening their demise by cutting benefits is NOT a conservative ‘bug’ . . . it’s a shining ‘feature.’

otchmoson commented on the diary post Pull Up a Chair and Bee Updated by eCAHNomics.
Thanks, eCAHN, for the post. Years ago (many, many of them), when book clubs were popular, I orders an ‘alternate selection’ titled: Beekeeping: The Gentle Art. We had just bought an old farmstead, and in my dreams I imagined myself as a beekeeper. Instead, I turned to canning, preserving, breadmaking, etc. But the book title [...]

otchmoson commented on the blog post The Real Health Cost Issue Is that We Simply Pay Too Much for Health Services
Take a look at some of the executive compensation revealed over on the Healthcare Renewal site. The boards of most of these healthcare corporations are cronies; they insist they must pay ‘market prices’ to attract the best talent. Then, when best (or mediocre) talent loses money–like the banksters on Wall Street–they get raises, bonuses, etc. You (like most of us) have instilled in our DNA a belief in fairness. FAIRNESS don’t exist at the elite level.

He ONLY has so many resources . . . and when you instruct your Justice Department to get harsh on immigration, and prosecute those medical marijuana users, there’s just not enough hours in the day to do what YOU want.s

otchmoson commented on the blog post What Does Obama Hope to Accomplish with Another Four Years?
My feelings, exactly. You remember, “Fool me once, shame on you . . .” Well, I’m feeling that I’ve been snookered big time. And even if our leaders don’t understand ‘integrity’ and ‘principles’–I do. NOT voting for Obama is my principled stand . . . and may ultimately be harmful. But hell, we’ve survived Bush; we’ve survived 4 years of mediocrity and incrementalism; I expect that we can survive a whackadoodle Republican . . . or even “O”–but I plan to write-in, vote 3rd party, or leave the top of the ticket blank.

otchmoson commented on the diary post Recovery? What recovery? by dakine01.
Why stop their perks? There’s still social security, Medicaid, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance and Food Stamp programs that can be raided to keep our elite “representatives” able to maintain their lifestyles. What they don’t seem to recognize, yet, is when they give the truly elite–you know those wealthy job creators–all the deregulation and tax cuts they [...]
