paiagirl commented on the diary post Hawai’i Senate Candidate’s Rightwing Credentials by paiagirl.
Yes the Chamber plans on spending half a million dollars on Lingle ads — that’s almost $2 per likely voter. (In 2010 277,000 votes cast out of 684,481 registered voters)

No – you are getting an exclusive here. We’ll see if anyone else picks it up.

paiagirl wrote a new diary post: Hawai’i Senate Candidate’s Rightwing Credentials
Check out the conservative credentials of this candidate for U.S. Senate: – While in Congress, this candidate commended President Bush for proposing Social Security privatization , applauded President Bush’s management of Guantanamo , strenuously fought Democratic efforts to bring troops home from Iraq , voted for a budget resolution that called for the defunding of Planned Parenthood and public broadcasting , and voted for [...]

paiagirl wrote a new diary post: Oahu Politics Manipulating Maui’s Central District
For the past four Hawai’i legislative sessions there has been a rebellion against the good’ol boy, ethically challenged Calvin Say faction by a group fed up with Rep. Say’s leadership. An example of Say’s, shall we say, loose interpretation of ethics rules was the situation with supporter Rep Joe Souki. Souki took a paid job [...] -

Is Joe Lieberman (a man I have had dealings with and hold in contempt) anti-choice?

paiagirl wrote a new diary post: Revenge of the Mocked Legislator
Rep Kymberly Pine (Hawaii Republican State Legislator) is hopping mad at her ex-website designer. According to Eric Ryan, her website designer, she didn’t pay her bill so he…er….” redesigned” her website and the changed header on her email list. Next time she sent out an email blast to her supporters and the press the header read, “Kymberly [...]

paiagirl wrote a new diary post: Linda Lingle Captures Her First Reporter
Honolulu Civil beat which has heretofore been known as an even handed investigative blog has been inexplicably posting perplexing and contradictory stories. In the first one, Lingle, Flush With Cash And On Message , writer Chad Blair gushed over Lingle’s fundraising saying:
Well before midday, Lingle’s big haul was the top breaking news on most Hawaii news outlets, [...]

Hmm…I can’t let that go by. Yes Lingle and Case are both war hawks. Yes, they’ll both probably vote with the GOP but here’s the difference: Lingle will vote GOP 100% of the time. She nominated Sarah Palin, for heavens sake, and all other things aside, Lingle is a smart, educated woman and if she [...]

But the tsunami of GOP money has yet to hit, and they are known for their dirty, misleading ads so this could change.

Polling shows Mazie leading with a big margin, last I heard.

Yes I remember following you on HP. Don’t get over there much anymore since AOL took over and practically every story is moderated to death. Kinda takes the interactivity out of it when you have to wait 1/2 and hour for your post to show and another 1/2 hour for a response.

That caption saying “Mazie Hirono (uncomfirmed)” is wrong. If you are talking about the woman wearing a purple blazer in the right front, no way is that Mazie. Too tall. Face very different. I contacted one of her campaign people and he said she did NOT go on this.

There is so much difference between Mazie and Inouye. And Mazie has her own power base. Although, as I said earlier, Inouye can control the national DCCC and Senatorial money, he can’t control our State Democrats (and it wouldn’t do him much good if he did). Part of governing, especially in the Senate is to [...]

I have the pink (pink is Maui’s color) Occupy Maui shirts still if you want one. You must know me but I confess I am not sure who you are. I am the same person who was on HP. I’m sure we know each other since it is a small island.

The family’s lawyer has filed for a stay but the judicial system more or less “robosigned” and did not accept it. We have only a small window of opportunity to get some kind of bill before the Hawai’i state legislature to maybe do something like Washington State did which was to require mediation. The bank [...]

OK … now I’m exposing myself…I’ll be there Monday. If you can’t stay all Monday (and Tuesday and…) then the best time to come is between 11am and 1pm on Monday. More info at http://occupymaui.org/tehiva.php

I believe that Mazie was one of the few who did NOT go on the AIPAC junket.

paiagirl commented on the diary post In which the NYT attempts to “call” Hawaii by Mauimom.
I think that we have to realize that over half the Hawai’i Dems are really chicken Republicans. So we have to (as you did) vote for the person. Although, after experiencing Lingle’s vindictiveness as Mayor of Maui, most of us in Maui County saw through her polished image into the reality of her over-weaning and [...]

Agreed. Obama is still well-loved here, even though we are not happy about some of his actions. But we’re a whole lot LESS happy with the GOP.
