    I was a bit surprised, though, that in trying to describe the 1950s era fears of communists and homosexuality being considered a security risk, there was no mention of David Maclean, Guy Burgess, and Kim Philby — three members of the British MI6 who were double agents working for the Soviet Union. Maclean and Burgess defected to the USSR in 1951, and Philby resigned from MI6 under suspicion, though he later returned to active service before defecting himself in 1963.
