For me, it worked — but in an odd way, it was the documentary interviews with people like the psychologist’s daughters and others who knew him that made the emotion of the dramatic sequences work. They humanized him, so that the dramatic scenes felt more honest and not over the top or contrived. This was especially true when they related how they heard about Turing’s death.

What inspired you to use this 1/3 drama, 2/3 documentary approach?
