Phil2 commented on the blog post God Finally Answers Focus on the Family’s Prayer For Rain
I’m a veteran of four hurricanes. From the graphic, Tampa will be in the right front quadrant of Isaac – that’s the worst part of the storm, with tornadoes not at all unusual, even hundreds of miles from the storm’s center.
I’m not going to hope for a Cat 5 storm, because I have some attachment to the Tampa area, but just enough to get the delegates soaking wet and messed up washed out hair, with possible running makeup. LOL! It’ll look like a gathering of refugees with grooming issues.

I suppose we’re supposed to vote for him based on his charisma and sincerity…..

Phil2 commented on the blog post Should my family spend $ in NC for my 50th birthday fete next year w/anti-gay Amendment One in place?
Boycotts of states and other jurisdictions are best left to large organizations like companies, political parties, etc. The DNC had Charlotte selected long before A1 passed, so given the scope of the convention, it suppose it can’t be helped.
So yes, if you and your family want to gather nearer to your home (given the difficulty in your traveling), why not? Also, have one hell of a happy 50th dear one!

Phil2 commented on the blog post It was a magic time for W: ‘Eight years was awesome, and I was famous and I was powerful’
I suppose it was a magic time for Hosni Mubarak too, he was powerful and famous, etc. Somehow, I don’t think Egypt got the better end of that deal though. Maybe W. should take it as a clue.

Phil2 commented on the blog post Professional anti-gay Matt Barber: the NAACP has been brainwashed by ‘white sexual anarchists’
Yes, but when you take everything else Barber has said about a variety of other things over the years and place it in that context, there is no defending what he says.

Phil2 commented on the blog post Wisconsin state senator pushes bill classifying single parenthood as child abuse
Oh that would have been special: he’d been in a psychiatric nursing home years prior and remains there to this day – ten years after her husband’s death.

Phil2 commented on the blog post Wisconsin state senator pushes bill classifying single parenthood as child abuse
Although they’re getting closer each day, I can’t wait until they cross the line into certifiable-land and get put into a state run “cuckoo’s nest” type institution.

Phil2 commented on the blog post Wisconsin state senator pushes bill classifying single parenthood as child abuse
Jeez, my sisters kids were being abused on account of their father being killed in an accident?

Phil2 commented on the blog post San Diego’s “Big Bay Boom” A Big Bay Bust
Well, Autumn, you have to admit it’s a very time-efficient way to view the fireworks. Instead of spending the 40 minutes it took to view them here, San Diegans did it in less than a minute!
Now, if they could devise a similar time-efficiency to cook a large meal or do laundry…..

Phil2 commented on the blog post Rep. Joe Walsh attacks his opponent, a double-amputee veteran, as not a ‘true hero’
The total joke of this human joke was that he ran on a platform of fiscal responsibility while he was $100,000 in arrears in child support payments.

Phil2 commented on the blog post Rep. Joe Walsh attacks his opponent, a double-amputee veteran, as not a ‘true hero’
Only one way to even out the score: Walsh is going to have to have his legs lopped off. It’ll make it harder for him to get away next time they’re trying to collect $100,000+ past due child support from him. You see, Joe Walsh is a seriously deadbeat dad, as well as an obnoxious jerk.

Phil2 commented on the blog post It’s hot in much of the U.S. — how are you faring in your area?
Weather here in Northern IL is/has been hot and humid – temps this week near 100. Last week too. We had some rain on Friday and some more on Sunday, but we are in a drought and all it takes is a look at lawns or cornfields to see it.
The derecho that clobbered the DC area actually formed in this area, but when it hit Friday morning, it hadn’t yet intensified enough to be more than a thundershower with a little wind, yet when it hit the Chicago suburbs, about 30 miles east from here, it was already a severe thunderstorm. Same deal with the rain on Sunday.

Phil2 commented on the blog post The ever-decreasing paycheck…as life changes take hold
Hang in there as long as you can dear one. I’m only now beginning to experience RA, and I get a flare every few months in my knees and ankles. It pretty much precludes me from having a job that requires me to be on my feet for an entire shift, which many of them do these days, for no apparent reason – think Walmart, where I haven’t had to think about working – yet.
It’s no fun at all.

Phil2 commented on the blog post Rev. Irene Monroe: How’s your “gaydar”?
Gaydar is something we’ve known about for years if not decades. We used to call it “getting vibes,” etc. It’s also pretty hard to describe to the unitiniated. Back in the day, it was the about the only way we were able to find who our brothers and sisters were, especially in areas where we lived in relative isolation. This was no small feat, so it was a matter of survival.
My own gaydar, as a gay male, is weird. It works about 20% of time for males, but about 80% of the time for women. So in other words, it does me little good when looking for prospective partners. Thankfully, I don’t live in an area where I’m isolated, at least much.
