Make him own it. From now on call it the REID RULE not the filibuster.
This is entirely Harry Reid’s baby. This is his ‘hand shake agreement”.
When anything is force into a 60 super majority.
Then call it what it is. The REID RULE. This is his idea, he could have changed it but he chose to keep the REID RULE.

This really is the perfect time to contact your Senator and tell him or her to support Senator Merkley’s filibuster reform.

The state of Minnesota passed their own “Jobs Bill”
They do theirs by eliminting business property taxes.
“Minn. House passes GOP business tax elimination

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota House on Wednesday passed a Republican-sponsored bill to reduce and ultimately eliminate state property taxes on businesses, but Democrats criticized the measure for shifting money away from a tax credit for renters.
The House passed what Republicans call the “tax relief and job creation act” on a 72-62 party line vote. Its centerpiece is a one-year freeze on a state-imposed property tax, paid by businesses and corporations, followed by a permanent phase-out over 12 years that would begin in 2014. ”

Ezra Klein’s Flawed Assumptions on Trade With China
By Ryan Chittum
….It’s not that Chinese companies have never taken an American worker’s job; they have. But the Chinese, by and large, are competing with companies in India, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, because the things those workers make are not, in most cases, the things we make or even the things we want to make.
That’s just not right. For one, we do make lots of stuff that the Chinese make (and subsidize a great deal). To name one that’s a critical national industry and has been in the news recently: that solar-panel maker in Massachusetts that took $43 million from state taxpayers and bailed to China after three years to get more corporate welfare there. To stick with the clean energy business, we make windmills. China takes Western technology and makes cheaper windmills via subsidies.
Then there are the things we don’t make but should want to make, like cell phones. None of them—not a single one—is made in the United States….

pigboy commented on the blog post Baucus Gives Away the Game: Medicare Cuts in Debt Limit Deal
“The single payer plan that Baucus kept off the table is now very much on the table in Libby. Unknown to most of the public, Baucus inserted a section into the health reform bill that covers the suffering people of Libby, Montana, not just the former miners but the whole community—all covered by Medicare.
They don’t have to be 65 years old or more.
They don’t have to wait until 2014 for the state exchanges.
No ten year roll out—it’s immediate.
They don’t have to purchase a plan—this is not a buy-in to Medicare—it’s free.
They don’t have to be disabled for two years before they apply.
They don’t have to go without care for three years until Medicaid expands.
They don’t have to meet income tests.
They don’t have to apply for a subsidy.
They don’t have to pay a fine for failure to buy insurance.
They don’t have to hope that the market will make a plan affordable.
They don’t have to hide their pre-existing conditions.
They don’t have to find a job that provides coverage.Baucus inserted a clause in the Affordable Care Act to make special arrangements for them in Medicare, and he didn’t wait for any Congressional Budget Office scoring to do it”

The thing is you site the actual legislation and how it works.
Which I did not do.
So it is a win, win after all.

This from The Political Carnival….
“The Less Discussed Part of Walker’s Wisconsin Plan: No-Bid Energy Assets Firesales……
…The bill would allow for the selling of state-owned heating/cooling/power plants without bids and without concern for the legally-defined public interest. This excellent catch is from Ed at ginandtacos.com (who, speaking of Madison, took me to the Essen Haus on my 21st birthday, where the night began to go sideways). Ed correctly notes:
If this isn’t the best summary of the goals of modern conservatism, I don’t know what is. It’s like a highlight reel of all of the tomahawk dunks of neo-Gilded Age corporatism: privatization, no-bid contracts, deregulation, and naked cronyism. Extra bonus points for the explicit effort to legally redefine the term “public interest” as “whatever the energy industry lobbyists we appoint to these unelected bureaucratic positions say it is.””

Lawrence O’Donnell becomes unhinged while interviewing Rep. Alan Grayson. O’Donnell totally loses his point when he turns into Bill Oreilly. It happens around 8:15 minutes into the clip.

I just think O’Donnell became a drama queen rather than an in-depth interviewer during his out of hand attack of Rep. Grayson.
