The place where I grew up wasn’t like that, but I was past thirty before I realized that ‘what does you dad do’ wasn’t a question we ever asked, or heard. We knew the official answers because twice a year we had to get forms filled out as a ‘federally impacted area’.
(At my HS reunions, that isn’t something that comes up, either.) -

I think there is information that does not need to be out in public domain. National security (I know, I know), credit card/bank numbers, etc. Document dumps do not always equal good.

Well, it might not be a really good idea. Just like it wasn’t a really good idea to keep the ‘improvised munitions’ stuff from Ft Campbell that my father had somehow gotten hold of (for work purposes). It was certainly an interesting booklet to look through, though.
