I find the cables fascinating. I used the keyword torture and came up with over 4,000 documents. I’ve read a lot of them over he past two nights.

pmorlan commented on the blog post Chief of Iraq Torture Commandos: “The Americans knew about everything I did”
Thanks for the link, Jeff. When I watched the Guardian video the other day I too was surprised to hear about the Oregon National Guard unit incident. I was watching the news (print) pretty closely back then for stories like this and I never came across this story.
God I hope before I die we will have a full, independent investigation into the Bush torture program and the death squads. Hell, I hope it’s before Cheney dies. I don’t want him to die before he knows that he didn’t get away with it.

pmorlan commented on the diary post Serious Questions About Wikileaks’ Release of Purported Guantanamo SOP by Jeff Kaye.
Jeff, as a supporter of Wikileaks I’m glad that you are questioning the documents. We should never accept, without question, what is posted online. I hope you will continue to pursue this and keep us updated. This is far too important a subject to allow false documents to be used to discredit reliable documents.

pmorlan commented on the blog post Why I’m Challenging Secrecy in Bradley Manning’s Court Martial
Kevin, thank you for signing onto the legal challenge and thank you for keeping us informed.
While I’m happy to see the variety of Media outlets signing onto the challenge I’d be even happier if they also reported to their readers/viewers why they have done so and why it’s important. The virtual blackout of news on this case allows the government to get away with what they’re doing. If these media outlets are serious about their challenge why aren’t they reporting about it?

I read about this yesterday and was very pleased to see Twitter was not rolling over for the government.

pmorlan commented on the blog post NSA Whistleblower: Justice Department Covers Up Crimes of Obama, Bush Administrations
I agree. I’ve been saying for a long time that I’d rather have a Republican in the WH just so that the Democrats will at least pretend again to object to these violations. With Obama in office we have very few of us who are objecting. I think Obama has been a disaster for civil liberties.

Great news. Now let’s see if the MSM will even talk about it on the news. If they do, I’m sure they will be just as obnoxious as Mr. Capp.

pmorlan commented on the blog post Why Liberals Support Indefinite Detention at Guantanamo & Drone Warfare (VIDEO)
I’m in a local political discussion group on Facebook. I posted a link to Greenwald’s excellent piece on this poll yesterday. So far not one comment to my post. Evidently no one thinks it’s even worthy of a response. Thank you for writing this piece Kevin because now I can post a comment to my own post from yesterday with a link to your piece. lol Maybe that will get some kind of discussion going.
Seriously, it breaks my heart to see these poll numbers. These people aren’t liberal, their faux liberals when it suits them. Shame on all of them.

to the UN, if naught else that’d start some more media
and FORCE the US Ambassador to the UN to respond to some pretty …interesting questionsplay the system

Yeah, WE know but they still have an enormous audience who unfortunately don’t have a clue that they are being spoon fed only the news these people want to tell them. It’s our airwaves and I refuse to politely go away and allow them to continue to bamboozle my fellow citizens.

You are correct but maybe that is what will be required of all of us. We can then hold an event where everyone who was arrested tells their story. Maybe we can even get on one of the talk shows so that even more people hear about the police tactics that are being used to stifle dissent.
