The answer to why Melbourne University Press printed the “Extremist Websites” designation is a simple one. It’s standard bibliographical practice for publishers to exactly copy the cataloguing information as it is provided by the national library in charge of cataloguing books, in this case the National Library of Australia. The publisher is obliged to parrot the cataloguing info precisely in order to conform to the cataloguing system and search functions. I’m sure the publisher gave do consideration to the characterization provoked by that categorization. The root problem lies with the NLA cataloguing.
