Thanks you so much Siun.
CUTV is amazing, they have been attacked by the police on multiple occasions, and they go on, night after night to bring a completely different point of view of these protests.
Knut, you are quite right, it is more complicated than that, quite right.

I was in Côte-des-Neiges yesterday night, three of us walked out on the balcony, and we were surprised to see four more doors open in the next few seconds, we thought we were going to be quite alone. Five minutes later, there were 30 persons in the middle of the street, banging away. This 82 years old polish woman came out, all decked out, full of make up, banging away with us. Two thirds of our group was english speaking. It’s spreading slowly, but it is spreading…

Speaking of comic alert:
Gilbert Rozon, Mister Just for Laughs Comedy festival came out in support of bill 78, and said that the student movement was blackmail through a minority, poor guy shot himself in both feet at the same time… The protesters are using a lot of artistic, funny imagery to fight this abusive police state. I witness it at every manifestation I joined in(about fifteen so far). Guess who’ll be the butt of the joke? Poor Rozon, he’ll regret having said that.

I broke my spoon yesterday night, it was old, my grandmother used it… The pots and pans tintamarre is spreading acros the province, Sherbrooke, Jonquière, sherbrooke, Gatineau, Laval… Folks are not staying on their balcony at eight pm, they go on the streets and end up talking to neighbours they’ve had for years, these folks walk in their neighbourhoods, and when they get to the main arteries, many groups converge, and walk towards downtown. It’s wholly organic, unorganized, no Koch brothers, and certainly no media supports it.
This started with a student strike, now, it is a full fledged anti-Charest: kick the bum out and his corrupt friends. But, essentially, this is the biggest 99% movement out there right now. Problem is that about 20% of the population support wholeheartidely the 1%, because of media propaganda and mostly because they’re egotistical jerkwads.
I’m going to go to little italy tonight, near Marché Jean-Talon, take some pictures and show you this photographer’s point of view tomorrow.
I’m very grateful FDL is talking more about it.

Number of arrests during the night, 515… And that was Pinochet, sorry.

Knut, just read you had pointed to our little part of the world yesterday. I haven’t been coming here a lot in the last few weeks, civil disobediance takes time. Happy that you are talking about it. We should meet one of these days…

Not really, the politicians are shielded by security. And no violence is wished on them by 99% of protesters. The media only points to the one bottle thrown at a police, or the one window that was broken, often by police provocateurs… The only experts that appear on tv to comment these events are ex police, never do they present a differing point of view. Those who believe the propaganda already fear god, the rest of this province, not that much…

Pots protestsmake people who are under attack by a govt. smile. The feeling of community arising from this is exactly what we need after all this abuse.

Morning Sd. The students in this part of the world have been demonstrating for more than a hundred days. The media is a huge problem, mostly towing the corrupt government propaganda, and fueling ignorant, egotistical teabaggers emulators. There were 450 arrests durig the night in Montreal. These were folks who were kettled, non violent. Most of the protests are held during the evening, stretching into the night. Here is a link, we are in the middle of a Québec Spring we are extremely proud of.
In honor of the Pinachet protest, folks walk out on their balcony at 8 pm, and they start banging on pots with wooden spoons. I love it.

My folks delved heavily in genealogy in the mid seventies, I was often asked to help decipher acts written in the sixteen hundreds because some of these beadles had iffy penmanship… From french ancestry on both sides of the family, my fathers side ended up in Beauport,QC with the Carignan Regiment in 1694, my mom’s [...]

Sadly, it works.
Yes, it does. I was talking to a wingnut lawyer the other day, only listens to FOXNews. When I said that if he had been raised in the Soviet Union, he would have been a big supporter of TASS agency. That did not go well, he thought I was comparing him to a communist…

Up here in Montréal, I catch a couple of talk radio stations from Vermont. His rant mirrors what I hear from Limbaugh, Ingraham and Carr. This captain’s rant is the result listening to foxnews and talk radio all the time. When I read him, fear strikes me as his main motivation. And in his mind, we are the racists for calling out his racism. In the end, he’s another psychopath who wants to make sure his foes pay the ultimate price. Welcome to the new kkk.

Teja, they’re dropping like flies around me, 4 in the last six months, half are five years younger than I am. Eat healthy, walk, love…
A shame you missed Montreal, rarely do folks leave from a visit without great stories.
Bigb, the planet has little chance to support us if we don’t change our ways. They’re exploring the gas shales around Montreal. Out of six holes, two have had to be shut down for escaping gases and water contamination. But, everything will be fine when they’ll be up and running… Sure.

I’m always reading FDL, putting links from Mas. and others to a few sites. Been busier, just had an amazing afternoon of shooting with two friends who are learning. I definitely like to help out, teach, share this stuff. OLd Montreal was glorious today, first day in the fifties this year.
On the Canada front, we’re swiftly becoming a fascistic theocracy.
