MaineWX: Much as with the privatiztion of SS no doubt. And this wisdom was revealed to you “as in a dream?” Do you have impressive credentials? Why are you talking to me? I have none.
Have a nice day. -

Ha! Good! Verily, I sit at the feet of the master.
Master, may I first wait for my head to reform into a shape that may be compatible with a “system” that is “beneficial to the masses.”
And, I seem to remember having heard, or heard of, someone who presumed to speak to the concept of “beneficial to the masses.” If I recall correctly, I marked him for a demagog and moved promptly outside his cloying reach.Socialism might be good for some “masses.”

Damn! Sorry MaineWX. Got my replies mixed-up.
Now you are gonna tell me that, “The free market is imperfect. Capitalism is imperfect. But the free market, capitalist economic system is the only system that I’m aware of so far developed which has brought the masses out of crushing poverty that has been their situation for millenia and which is still their situation today in many if not most countries?” Is that right?
Where in the hell did you come up with the idea that there is such a thing as a free market – capitalist economic system? And most outrageously that it was “developed.”
It was born, it thrives, it eats and sleeps, but it was not “developed!” And it is about as benign as a Burmese Reticulated Python.
Sweet dreams.

Damn onitgoes! You are radical.
I’ve always preferred TOIT, however. Perhaps the Frenchy emphasis. -

It may be simply that my W7 MSW is so damned primitive it still works, but Batshit Crazy works good there. Just checked. -

Ruth!
I’ve been marvelling for half a century at the skill of the persons (I guess that’s an apppropriate designation) who captured the otherwise well defined Poly. Sci. term “conservative”, otherwise (the world over) understood to imply a reluctance to rock what seems a somewhat tippy boat.
They apparently moved quickly to institute a shock doctrine at the first sigh of liberal leanings in Latin America in the late 50s and early 60s. They done really good! I guess the denizens of CIA didn’t detract from their score. -

“But they won’t stop. They literally can’t. It’s in their nature.” I have resisted that notion for most of my life, but I’m starting to waver. Maybe it’s a disease. Power corrupts…? That’s almost as unsettling as your hypothesis, isn’t it?

RaggMopp commented on the diary post Again, Why Are We Spending $Millions On Homeland Security? by amghru.
The whole concept, yea the very name “Department of Homeland Security” gave me a gas pain when it first came up. It was clearly a political boondoggle ostensibly intended to make American voters feel like the Bush Administration was doing something, designed to spend boatloads of money on the open (crony) market for the trappings [...]

Yes, I quibble, mia culpa, my bad as we say now. Anyway, quibble: I lost you at “…increase the caliber…carry a .45″ I think FBI moved from .38 to 9 mm thence to .40. Few lawmen used .45 ACP that I know of. One notable exception being Texas Rangers. They typically carry a pair with [...]

RaggMopp commented on the diary post Our well-armed DHS by szielinski.
Must be something about where you looked, BP. You didn’t have any wrong facts, just maybe an issue of emphasis. Story I got was that .40 was developed by/for FBI, and has become std. with Secret Service, US Marshalls, probably DHS. Every federal cop I know has a .40 or wants one, and lots of [...]

I apologize for dragging this out like this. I just got home.
You are, of course, completely uncontested on the matter of arrest. I didn’t say a thing about arrest; legal or otherwise. I said attack.
Thanks for the nice explanation tho.

RaggMopp commented on the diary post Trayvon Martin: What Forensics Can Tell Us by Masoninblue.
Of course not. Like in this case; where the local authorities took the officer’s side. Like letting him leave police HQ with his weapon. Cheeze man! Are your antennae quivering. We’re on the same side, but it seems like you are looking for somebody to dis. You noticed that there were two very different interpretations [...]

“…which he had a legal right to do since Zimmerman was not a law enforcement officer.” Huh? Mason, that’s the scariest thing I’ve heard in a while. One has a right to defend onesself against even the Secret Service when faced with a personal and unwarranted attack therefrom; and it’s the victim’s call. It’s a [...]

Do you know of anyplace where a killing during a purported altercation between persons unknown to each other, not involving another felony (Robbery, rape, home invasion, etc.) can be grounds for a judicial decision of capital murder?
Not even in Texas.

I am apalled, and I stand with you and all women against this travesty. I normally avoid going postal, and I am trying to contain my military mouth. But I must add one little thing: Ever heard, “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.” How ’bout, “If you can’t flaunt it, it ain’t a right.” [...]
