Great post David. Fred Hampton was murdered (by the FBI) while in his bed with his pregnant girl friend.
My only question is: What has every post-war American president and their generals been protecting? What is fascism protecting?
Rhetorical.
This predatory economic system.

The profound crisis in the world economic system, the great wealth disparity that is represented by the 1% verses the 99% and the need by the 1% to protect and support this economic system is the basis of an all out attack on the working class. The attack on women, the attack on undocumented workers, the attack on union organizing, the attack on African Americans, all part of this political process. The idea that we are all in this together is just not true. Objectively how can we all be in this together when the 1% controls an overwhelming percentage of the wealth. As things get worse economically the need to divide and conquer will be even greater. The need to attack us economically is being reflected politically. This is one of the reasons we must defend against all attacks on our class.

It seems the “law of competition” will continue to push the development of technology forward. If this is true, then we must find a way to make it work for us….the 99%.

rally commented on the diary post Citing ‘Tradition,’ Big Ag Fights Reforms for Child Farmworkers by Michelle Chen.
The future may not be hiring child labor but replacing agricultural labor with robotics. “And while scientists have been working to develop robots for agricultural labor for more than 20 years, a new project is taking a more cerebral approach. The goal is to teach computers to see like humans do and to get better [...]

Technology is eliminating wage slavery. It is breaking the contract that tied the worker to the capitalist. The problem being that under this system without money one can’t survive with any quality of life.

Maybe, but how “enraptured” can you be when you are being made permanently under or unemployed?

If we could “free human creativity” I can only imagine the problems we could solve.

I think you are right. Technology will not go away we just need to control it and use it in the interest of the 99%.

rally commented on the diary post In praise of the universal surveillance state. No shame in our game. by Rex.
Yes, I read your link. I was thinking more in terms of robotics and how in more and more industries technology is permanently replacing jobs. If this is a trend, then in period of time, millions of people will be out of work and will not be able to buy back the products the robots [...]

Technology is not by itself evil. It depends on what class it serves. At this time in history it seems to be serving the ruling class but that can all change and then technology will be revolutionary.

I so agree with what you said. Let us put ideology and partisan politics aside and just look at the bottom line. If economics is the driving factor then why would the insurance industry want this bill to be overturned? Millions of mandated new customers. They helped write the bill and they have paid good money to buy this president and the supreme court. They want that for which they paid. Both the court and the president are owned by the 1%. If this is true then whatever decision the supreme courts makes will some how be in the interest of the 1%.
